Roy seemingly avoided Dariusz Michalczewski for years. Granted he moved up to fight HW which was the crowing achievement on his career, but people conveniently forgot Roy never fought the #2 guy at 175.

Also I think Floyd saying "I wish (whoever) nothing but the best" is his code for gfy.

mayweather beating canelo was more impressive than jones beating ruiz as well

canelo was the #1 SWW. ruiz was arguably the worst HW titlist ever

C'mon, I don't even like Floyd, but he fought MUCH better competition than Roy. Roy mostly fought part-time security guards. Aside from the BHop (1st) Toney and Ruiz fights, how many of Roy's fights were considered important.?

What's Roy Jr. doing? Is he trying to end up at the mental facility? Just stay a commentator and enjoy your life...

That is a complete and utter myth. I followed every single article and newsflash back in the day. Early on when people first started taking notice of DM, it was during the time when David Telesco was a hot, streaking contender with a great run. DM decided to market himself in America. It was announced that he would fight Telesco on ESPN and even Marty Mulcahey on fight news dot com had the fight listed on his regular boxing schedule. Team DM pulled out over money because he was a star in Germany making more and was not a household name in America. In sales, when a company takes less to market something where they can make much more money later, its called a loss-leader and team DM was not willing to do that.

Then HBO's Kerry Davis tried in vein to get a hold of Klaus-Peter Kohl numerous times as a comprehensive effort to make the fight and Kohl would not return calls. Then after some attempts HBO sent over a faxed offer for DM as a co-feature to a Jones card. Team DM declined claiming he can make more money and has gone on record as saying that he fights for money, not fame, or titles but team DM never gave Kerry Davis a number to work with. DM's claim about money is found on a yahoo article about the situation.

Murad Muhammed eventually travelled to Germany and met with Kohl and the offer that was on the table to stage the fight in Germany was for Jones to get a number that has been said to be between 50% and 80% of what DM would get paid. The #1 PFP fighter in the world was offered substantially less than DM for a fight in Germany. Not acceptable. DM went on to fight and lose to a Jones former victim, Gonzalez.

Yes, he took "risk" AND HE IS BROKE TODAY and possibly taking the real and serious risk of having health problems by continuing a faded boxing career which continues to put punishment on an old body that can't take it anymore.

No matter what criticisms came out of the mouth Roy Jones about Floyd in the past, Floyd is set for life and Roy is broke and suffering unnecessary punishment in his old age.

It feels kinda backhanded. Did he really need to bring up his team and his "smart investments"? Almost implies he's just fighting for the money. I'm pretty sure his HBO gig pays him pretty good.
