I scored it for Whitaker, but I suppose I could see how someone had DLH winning by a razor thin margin.
I think people have a tough time scoring Whitaker fights (especially this one) because he fools around in the ring so much. There were several occasions in that fight where DLH would hit Whitaker on the shoulder and he'd physically move across the ring, but it wasn't a clean land.
Whitaker made DLH's skills look ordinary (well he did that to everyone he fought). His jab and short punches worked well when he used him, but he really didn't throw enough early to make it a convincing win. Whitaker did enough to retain his title, even dropping DLH (i know it was somewhat balance but still legit). DLH never landed anything really significant on Whitaker, whose defense was still top notch at that time.
Not a robbery, but the wrong decision in my opinion. Kind of like Ward/Augustus.
