Look at the undefeated heavys (and most untested/ protected)
      Tyson Fury
      Deontay Wilder
      Glazkov
      Erkan Teper
      Anthony Joshua
      Joseph Parker
      Lucas Browne
      Andy Ruiz
      Robert Helenius
      Charles Martin
      Gerald Washington
      Dominic Breazeale
      Hughie Fury
      Luis Ortiz
      Trevor Bryan
Trey Lippe (Morrison's son, training with Roach)

As you can see, there is a lot of talent. Too bad the age we live in, the best hardly ever fight the best. Otherwise, we would get a lot of good match ups.
Until they do fight, the division will not be that exciting.
I think we are starting to get good matchups. Joshua-Whyte was a good matchup and so was Ortiz-Jennings. In January we have Wilder-Szpilka, Mansour-Breazele and Glazkov-Martin. I think in the next several years we're gonna see some quality matchups and some classic battles.

A division is only as good as the fights that are made in it. There are tons of good prospects coming up at the moment, and lots of good solid action fighters in the top ten/fifteen, but unless they fight each other it's all meaningless. Thank god for fighters like Jennings, Mansour, Thompson etc, and hopefully Wilder grows a pair of balls in 2016 and starts acting like the champion he's supposed to be.

For what it's worth, some great fights I'd like to see in the near future:

        Fury vs Ortiz
        Ortiz vs Takam
        Takam vs Jennings
        Jennings vs Povetkin
        Povetkin vs Wilder
        Wilder vs Parker
        Parker vs Joshua
        Joshua vs Ortiz
        Scott vs Mansour
        Helenius vs Pulev
        Pulev vs Chisora
        Fury vs Wilder
        Wilder vs Jennings

If even half those fights get made I'd be a happy man.

              characters.

that's the only reason why heavyweight matters.

because there's a character that is holding a belt. it helps a lot if the character is white. the more characters the sport has the better the sport is. boxing is lacking in the crazy character department right now.

not enough crazy nutjobs with entertaining personalities.

I don't think it really matters if they're white or not. Personalities comes in all shapes and sizes. I love that Fury's such a wild man though, and his gypsy background gives us something different from the usual street hoodlums and ex-cons that traditionally made up the more colourful characters in the sport's history. It also helps that he's so articulate and knowledgeable. I think his time at the top is only going to benefit the division in all sorts of ways.

Aside from Fury you've got the loudmouth Wilder and the cool but utterly intimidating King Kong Ortiz. Lots of other fiery personalities as well, Whyte, Szpilka, Chisora etc.

Ortiz/Jennings is exactly what boxing should be. Two guys using their skill to actually fight, rather than their size to cheat. Damn good fight and I'm looking forward to both of their next fights.

Wilder is another exciting fighter, Fury is usually exciting but got ****** into the black hole of cheating and boredom that is Wlad. If nothing else we'll get some actual fights now instead of Wlad cheating everyone, and that's a good thing.
