    TMT's Tank Davis 18th bout - Linares ?

Floyd, the vocal political king of boxing.....will he be able or want to invest in Davis for a significant title shot for Tank's 18th bout or sooner? Revisiting the advent when Floyd beat Genaro Hernandez?

I think Davis should fight Michael Perez next, with his only loss to the pressuring Figueroa Jr. Perez as well knocked out the 200th ranked Luis Sanchez sooner than Tank.

    15th. Saucedo or Perez
    16th. Diery Jean
    17th. Miguel Roman
    18th. Linares or Barthelemy

Will Haymon and TMT do this accordingly? personally, Tank is no young Floyd. However and surely, TMT, I hope does not go cheap on this...

I doubt they rush him they desperately need someone that is the goods, right now all they have is errol spence and plus El Tank needs more time to mature as a fighter he is too left hand dependent right now. \

I doubt they got designs on doing Davis' career like its a remake of Floyd's career. Or I'd hope that to be the case.

That "dog house" philosophy works in the gym. It gets you better faster, but the pro game is sink or swim so when you throw a guy in over matched or just too competitive too soon you could f#ck up his entire career or ego in a way throwing Davis in to spar 6min rounds with an established world class boxer in the gym who'll give him a tough day wouldn't.

Will Haymon and TMT do this accordingly? personally, Tank is no young Floyd. However and surely, TMT, I hope does not go cheap on this...
Yea Davis is clearly no young Floyd while still being greatly talented. I think they want more fights right on the level of the fight last night for the next 6 months or so or 3 fights or so. No hurry to get this kid to the top. And lets remember Floyd came into the pros pretty seasoned having international competition vs these "professional" amateur type cats & I believe most of Davis' amateur wins were over teenagers. Davis needs & deserves more seasoning in the game, for everyones benefit whos working with him & himself, to reach his max potential.

Personally I think Floyd being too involved in this kids development (or any of his fighters development) is a bad thing too. Yelling into his ear between rounds isn't professional nor needed. Maybe it helped, maybe it didn't this time, but its ultimately a bad look & a bad move to have this many voices coming at you in that 60 seconds you have to refocus on what you need to do or are doing wrong & just avoid silly turmoil like your trainer & your mentor competing for your attention while you are in the middle of a f#cking fight.

I don't think Spence is a Mayweather Promotions guy. I think Mayweather just f#cks with him on a potential future of the game type guy level that he can impart some wisdom since they both are under Haymon. Spence doing well is good for the PBC brand which Floyd is now a part of with Mayweather Promotions being one of the regular PBC promoters.

I think Badou Jack is the leader of the pack with Mayweather Promotions. And while its debatable he's "the goods", he's clearly a top 5 168lber right now & seems to be close to a bigger fight vs DeGale (that could arguable make him the #1 guy @ 168) or Chavez (that could help him increase his fan base/get more eyes on him making him more mainstream).

When ever a new so called superstar comes along I go to boxrec to check out the quality of his opponents and where boxrec ranks him. I go to boxrec because they rank all pro boxers in each weight and that is usually 2000 or more boxers. I have to go to boxrec because the guys they are fighting aren't good enough to be ranked by anyone else because they only rank the top 10 or 15 boxers. Boxrec ranks Davis as the 66th best lightweight in the world. To really deserve a title shot I think a boxer should be at or near the top 15 boxers in his weight class. At 66th in his weight class Davis is a long way from deserving a title shot. The guy he just KOed is ranked the 185th best lightweight in the world. Everybody else he has fought was ranked way lower than that and down in the 200 to 500 area. They are still matching him very carefully and he has never fought anybody worth a damn yet. If he fights guys in the top 50 will the easy KOs continue? Spence is ranked 10th in the world by boxrec and he has knocked out some top 50 guys. Spence is the real deal in my opinion. I am not sure about Davis at all. Davis has a great power punch in his left but I see some flaws. He is not a well rounded fighter and just depends on his left bomb. I don't think he will ever be anything special. He may win a world title because there are 4 world titles in each weight class and he can pick the weakest champion.

I agree Boxrec is the best option to measure prospects (some you've never even gotten to see yet), but I think its a lil early to be comparing Spence & Davis.

Spence didn't even turn pro til he was older than Davis is now. Spence had a wealth of high level amateur experience coming into the pro game. Davis had just 15 months fighting in the open amateur division before turning pro. And even though these two turned pro a mere 3 months apart Davis is gonna need more grooming than Spence was gonna need from the get go.

Well as you would all agree Davis is being groomed in a quality based gym, which or more less, those boxers share a particular wealth of boxing IQ. Thank beat former experienced Feather champ Christobal Cruz. Surely different weights and age but it counts for something.

It's easily justifiable or else the boxing world wouldn't write significant wins when Garcia or Maidana beat an old Morales. Of course Morales and let's say Christobal Cruz aren't the same league, but still, fighting experienced fighters - not bums - does count for something.

My thing is that if Floyd truly cares about fighters in his stable, to really be the best, their training, hard work, and dedication have to be a higher standard than him because simply there will not be another Floyd for a while...so therefore, assuming these guys are being groomed extremely well behind closed doors, then I'm sure Tank will probably get a title shot sooner than you guys think. Plus, this is only Lightweight atm. He's going to have to really pressure his stable to extremely step up their game if they're even thinking or if he plans for someone under his investment to walk in his shoes...or least share that level..

By the time Davis gets to his 18th fight Linares may no longer be WBC champion.
Linares has a mandatory due in Dejan Zlaticanin
