How would you rate GGG vs. Canelo historically?

Let’s say Golovkin and Canelo are going to win their next fight and clash in September for the undisputed 160 lbs crown. How would you rate the fight historically? In my opinion it would be the biggest middleweight title fight since Hopkins vs. Trinidad.

I'm pretty sure he meant the historical/boxing significance, not the economic/financial significance.

definitely top 5, but as for "historical significance" Oscar vs Hops was pretty big at the time, even though it turned out to be a dud........

The people love Golovkin. It would do much better. 150k wasn't bad considering Lemieux had only one fight on HBO before and the countdown show was poor. You need a dance partner to pull great numbers and Golovkin is the perfect B-side for Canelo. He's an undefeated, charismatic knockout artist and the 24/7 will bomb. Imagine Golovkin taking the HBO team to the mean streets of Karaganda Kazachstan talking about his childhood. People will love it. Furthermore, he's a thread to Canelo. Actually, Canelo would be the underdog. Every Mexican and his dog would buy the fight and a lot of casuals.

I was thinking about BHop vs. De la Hoya as well, but let's be honest: Oscar looked terrible against Sturm and he was never a middleweight in the first place. He looked very small against Hopkins. On the other side Trinidad was still undefeated and looked like a beast against Joppy.

On balance I think the Syrian Civil War will overshadow it.

I vote for the biggest since BHop and Trinidad, in this case Canelo is the one bringing the real hype to the fight.

Financially I think it will do good numbers

Biggest MW fight since Hopkins vs. Tito.

And whoever wins it becomes the best win on their resume, by far.
