A unification always have a pass over a mandatory, Barrera is a higher risk than Pascal, and the main issue is; What would be the best choice between risking 3 belts against younger Barrera for few $.$$, or picking the highest belt for the Undisputed title against older Stevenson for major $$ $$$ $$$.$$...
For Kathy Duva, purse bids are fine, but for Stevenson it's a NO, she refuse.
Al Haymon says OK, instead of the purse bid lets make the TV work together, Kathy didn't even ask her new TV boss Nelson, she just rejected the idea with a (I don't want to hear it).
She always put the HBO exclusivity reason as the main factor even when Kovalev had no TV contract. She just want to feel Haymon falling under her feet, she wants that little business win over him. A personal fantasy she's exposing publicly even if business wise, that obsession is making everybody making less money, (Girls & Power); no comments.

Anyhow, she knows she has to stop to play difficult, and make that unification for the best purse & best title Kovalev could make. Right now, team Kovalev need Stevenson more than fans may think, but she's still playing poker by bluffing; that girl...

Actually it is more likely that nothing would have happened without them. They were the only ones willing to take a risk on Kovalev. All the other promoters (incl. TR & GBP) turned him down.

Now look, in just 3 years he is unified world champion, PFP #2 and an HBO staple.

The other light-heavyweight was doing well at one point too, breakout year in 2013, then he signed with Haymon and the quality of his opponents and ratings have plummeted. C'est la vie.

I sense a thirty page argument of the following:

        Kovalev defenders:

Kovalev won't fight a guy- Kovalev sleeck Moscow biznes bruzzer!

Stevenson won't fight a guy- Aduckis Chickenson is a super ducker!

        Stevenson Defenders--

Stevenson won't fight a guy: He gots ta be bout dat bidness mayne!

Kovalev won't fight a guy: He a scurred fake papuh champ!

There, I just saved you buttwipes a lot of time.
