Do fighters actually practice what to do when they are hurt ?

Now ive nevr boxed competitively ive just sparred a bit for fitness etc so havent been around real top professionals but i juts wonder whether these guys actually practice what to do when they get hurt.

Seems like so many juts dont deal with it.

Now I know tyou dont have your wits about you when you are suffering what is basically head trauma but isnt that even more reason to have a plan and to practice that over and over ?

I mean theres so much you can do to buy time and not get the fight stopped or DQed.

Take a knee, run, hold, lose your mouthguard, commit a foul, complain to the ref, pretend to slip over, get a guy to parachute into the ring, etc etc.

Just seems like fighters are kinda left to their own devices to sort it out when it happens and so many just dont deal with it.

maybe get guy and spin him around til hes dizzy and then get him to try to hold or run etc or dodge punches.

Can it even be practiced ?

It's a good question. I've never asked a fighter that myself. Like you, I have only done sparring.

It might be too hard to replicate the actual feeling of a hurt fighter, from watching boxing some fighters are so hurt they can barely stay up, the brain isn't functioning properly.

im still waiting for the day a boxer does everything, I want to see a boxer get hurt and hold on for dear life freaking lock his opponent arm up and doesnt break instantly wait till the ref has to literally pull them apart and then when the guy comes back in viciously lowblow him, and then when the guy comes again spit out the mouth guard lol.

Those closes we got is corrales spitting out his mouth guard multiple times to cheat Castillo of the TKO victory and worked in his favor. Now no one really mentions corrales *****ness in spitting out his gurad multiple times to cheat they only talk about the amazing comeback stoppage lol.

but to answer your question they dont pratice what to do when hurt persay they pratice how to clinch and how to cover up in the corner at least the boxers I seen, but that rare occasions.

Practice holding, Larry Rameriez former Olympic Coach of Fontana Boxing club told me what they use to do when hitting the bag was to spin your self till your very dizzy than hit the bag this teaches how to continue fighting when hurt

Quillin sure doesn't. He should've took a knee vs Jacobs.

Of course. I have a method, But being the nature of boxing as competitive as it is I'll reserve from telling you...oh and it works to a charm!

Lemieux had training footage where he was spinning around to make himself dizzy to simulate the sensation of being buzzed...

at least I think that's what the video was... few months back, I forget

“We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice.”

“I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice.”

“Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last, but we're talking about practice man.”

LOL. All jokes aside. I dont think any boxer "practice" what to do if they ever get hurt in the ring, thought about it? Yes, but practice it? Maybe not.
