The sad thing is we were supposed to be getting this fight today. Loud mouth Keith needs to put out a statement on what's going on.

Been saying from day when this fight is being delayed because of financial issues with PBC and trying to figure out a network to air it on. we are seeing haymon send fights back to showtime because they are too expensive and PBC has already lost more money in year 1 then they are comfortable with. The ratings have been bad and trending down. So that means either push this to showtime or somebody has to take a paycut. This is the problem when you pay guys 1mil for mismatches now you have to pay them each more to fight each other.

Jacobs vs quillin was originally supposed to be on PBC then moved to showtime because it was too expensive and would of lost big money if it aired on PBC. so showtime paid both guys 1.5mil each despite neither having much of a fan base and no other network willing to pay that much. And predictable the fight bombed. Only 8k fans showed up less then half the arena size and it drew about 270k viewers for the entire card on showtime. Just a disaster. They lost money on jacobs/quillin.

Thurman/porter somebody needs to take a paycut or this fight will lose money if it airs on PBC. Unless they ship it to showtime then they lose money.

Doesn't seem to be anything substantive behind that claim.

I think it's a case of there being a delay and Thurman hasn't spoken so they assume it's money holding it up because no has said anything else.

Since when has Al Haymon had a problem giving his fighters money from his trust fund?

If the fight hasn't happened yet, it's because Haymon doesn't want to happen yet.

The peak during the jacobs main event was about 380k. The entire showtime card Avg just under 300k viewers which is a complete waste for the money spent on the fight.

Lara previous fights on PBC made I believe 1mil for those mismatches but had to take a significant paycut his last fight on PBC a few weeks ago. Jacobs vs quillin originally for PBC moved to showtime. You have have haymon b and c class fighters headlining pbc cards the last few months instead of his A class fighters that are moving back to showtime or taking the rest of the year off. This is because pbc is burning too much money. The ratings aren't where they thought they'd be so they are trying to limit the amount they lose on these cards that's why you seeing cheaper pbc cards guys taking pay cuts or lesser quality names that cost less.

This fight was announced as done months ago and first scheduled to air in nov/dec. You can't keep affording these inflated fighter purses that lose money. This is the domino effect of a business model that can't sustain itself.

So much misinformation/ignorance in this statement. Thing's I've previously corrected you about earlier.

The plan has always been for the fighters to fight on PBC and Showtime. Espinoza said so right after PBC was announced:

                    "
I hope [NBC] does 5 million viewers. I hope they do 10 million viewers because, guess what? I'm getting those guys back [on Showtime] and very, very soon," said Espinoza, noting that the boxers are not exclusive to NBC.
                    http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...ters-going-nbc

Networks don't pay a fighters purse, promoters do. Networks pay a licensing fee to air the fights.

Premium cable Networks lose money on all fights unless it's PPV. Premium cable Networks don't sell advertising. They have a budget they use as an investment into a fighter in hopes of making them a PPV star or a couple of fighters that fight often enough to garner subscriptions.

The PBC is collecting some rights fees. It also is paying for some air time. The main reason the deal had to be structured similarly to a time-buy is that it was the most logical way for the PBC to create sponsorship and advertising inventory across so many networks.

“It’s not a time-buy,” Miller said. “The reason we’re not selling it is because you couldn’t have six different networks out there selling the same product — and certainly not a product without a track record. So you have one group selling everything. And that’s really the brilliance of the concept.”
                    http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/J...epth/Main.aspx

Miller is the president of programming for NBC Sports. But instead of listening to people who are actually a part of the deal, the people who actually know the numbers. Let's listen to NSB members and reporters who've never taken the time to investigate how it's actually run.

Fact the Jacobs quillin fight was first leaked to reporters as a pbc fight then moved to showtime last minute why? Fact the first half of the year PBC cards filled with haymon A list fighters. Then the ratings come in and are in the tank and mysteriously the remaining pbc fights see a drastic drop in names it's now b and c class fighters filling those cards and A list fighters now on showtime why? Cards like Thurman porter released as done deal 4 months ago now is stuck in the mudd why? Porter now saying thurman needs his purse compensated and is willing to give back money which is in line with numerous reports that pbc lost a ton of money already in year one. Fox debut card has far less star power then NBC debut card last year why? But sure none of this is linked to pbc tanking in ratings and losing millions of investors money each card they pull out?

It's clear as day pbc is trying to put out cheaper cards to limit the amount they lose each time out. That makes it hard to pull off fights like Jacobs vs quillin and porter vs thurman. Keep dreaming that everything is A OK with haymon and PBC meanwhile the TV ratings are dreadful and big fights now have a new wrinkle for why they can't get made because pbc can't afford them lol
