Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker is Inching Closer To WBO Title Shot

Unbeaten New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker (17-0, 15KOs) has climbed two spots to be the third-ranked challenger in the World Boxing Organization.

There was a ranking reshuffle following Briton Tyson Fury's defeat of long-time champion Wladimir Klitschko last month, with the Ukranian great now sitting a place below Parker.

The top-ranked challenger to Fury is American Charles Martin, followed by another unbeaten fighter, Briton Anthony Joshua.

While I think Parker has great potential, he hasn't been tested at all. The only two guys on his resume that I can pick out are Saglam and Minto. They're just journeyman. He needs a Wach type of opponent before he steps in with Fury.

I like him as a rising prospect... but lol at that lofty WBO rating
Also how the fuck does he have the WBO African title?

Jesus, they plugged any and every belt they could into that Meehan fight

        Title shot

It now time to take Parker to the States or the Uk.
He needs to build up his profile. So when he gets a title shot.
He will be in strong position to negotiate a healthy purse.

This is great position to be in after only 17 fights.
Number 3 by WBO and climbing, go Joe.

He should fight Leapai next.... would be a big fight in that area. His promoter talking about how they offered huge purses to some of these guys, even Briggs. Leapai would be his biggest challenge and he'd still smash him for a name... also former WBO mando/challenger

            Running scare

There is problem with what you have suggested.
These guys won't fight him.Wach has already been offered a fight.
            He said no.
Duncan Parker's match maker put substantial offers to:Biggs,Wach,Arreola,
Browne,Glazov,Gerber,De Mori. They all said no.
These guys said no. As well: Oquendo,Molina,Thompson,Hammer.

Parker can really punch. He hit Martz so hard he bent his head and neck
Sideways.I thought he took his head off.

Now that Klitschko has lost guys are going to be making moves. Fury, Wilder, Martin or Glazkov could be your 3 champions unless Klitschko wins the rematch. I don't think anyone is that scared of Klitschko now. He just lost to Fury who most thought would get KTFO by Wlad. Klitschko's aura is GONE! The young lions will be lining up. If Klitschko wins he will want both belts he doesn't have so you can bet Glazkov/ Martin & Wilder would be next before the end of his contract. There will be fights made now.Throw Haye back in the mix & things look interesting...

I think tHats why he has the high ranking.

His big move in this sport is coming, I think he's going to be very good. I think he's better than wilder and won't be surprised if he has a better career long term than Joshua.

Kellerman mentioned him on the fight game so that could be a indication HBO is going to look his way soon

His hand speed is no joke.

Wilder and Parker have the fastest hands in the heavyweight division.
