  • Golovkin's closing window of opportunity

Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin, born 8 April 1982.

34-years-old in May for a potential Canelo clash, dude is past his prime.

Oscar De La Hoya was 34 when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr

Kelly Pavlik is GGG's age, born April 1982.

Anyone see GGG staying elite at an advanced age à la Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather Jr?

Everyone's career comes to an end eventually. GGG is pretty wealthy now, but I don't think he has more than another 1-2 years left in boxing. He fought a lot as an amateur, after all. That's a lot of brain trauma. No matter how resilient you are, it adds up.

Who knows? Maybe Golovkin does fight Tureano Johnson next and gets KO'd?

Fighters age differently. He's shown no signs of decline and is in a very non-threatening division. I think he can rwign at 160 for a long time.

GGG ends his fights early and takes very little damage so yes i can see GGG dominating his division for many years.

Well, he shouldnt have been wasting his prime then. But I could see him plugging out another 5 years successfully...If he stays in MW.

He's like the new Sergio Martinez. Has everything he needs to be a star, except time.

Golovkin relies on technique over athleticism. He hasn't taken any serious damage in any fight and lives a stable and healthy life and fights regularly. He says he'll continue for another 4-5 years.

Hopkins was 36 when he finally landed the Trinidad fight, Golovkin will be 34 when he gets Alvarez and maybe even Lee/Jacobs as well.

lol these trolls grasping at straws. GGG is only 10 months older than Quillin, but fools want to act like he is a dinosaur.
