Estrada returns in January. Possible warm up for the Roman rematch?

Juan Francisco "Gallo" Estrada will be making his return in mid Janurary, defending his belts against an opponent yet to be defined. According to his team, they are actively seeking to find Nicaraguan boxer, in order to warm up the possibility of a rematch with Roman in the later part of 2016.

According to his team, Milan Melindo is also being considered as an opponent, yet again. After giving Estrada a tough match a few years back, Estrada and his team are comfortable with giving the Filipino technician a rematch early next year. However, they are prioritizing an opponent from the same country as the PFP kingpin himself, Roman Gonzalez.

Among the names being mentioned is that of Keyvin Lara, With a record of 17/1/1 and the current WBC Latino flyweight title holder. Lara is also classified among the top 15 in the WBA rankings as well.

Estrada was given the option to fight a ten rounder this month or defend his straps in January. Seeing as how he enjoys and takes pride defending his crowns, Estrada chose to skip out on the ten rounder and decided to buckle down for a defense in he beginning of 2016.

Once the opponent is locked down, the venue will most likely be in either Estrada's home turf, or possibly in Tijuana. However, those details are yet to be confirmed, seeing as how they still have some work to process before settling down on a location.

Personally I think it's a lukewarm fight. I honestly wish both Roman and Estrada would actually face some stiffer competition. However, if this is a warm up for the rematch, I'm down with it. Regardless of what is to come im watching it Estrada's fanboy front and center!

Seems like Estrada and his team are more than willing. I watched a recent interview where Estrada says he isn't too concerned with what they get paid for the rematch, as long as it's fair for them. He said he's ok with a million or less, as long as the people enjoy it and they get a fair split.

Also, it seems like it may be on their agenda. They are actively seeking for a fighter from Nicaragua to stir up emotions and warm up the rivalry. I'm crossing my fingers, man.

The same thing -Jacobs said. Roman is also asking for more money. K2 is cheap. They gotta start paying a fair purse for these fights to happen

Smart move by Estradas management looking for a Nicaraguan "tune-up". Itll add to the build up and help Estrada stay sharp. Hope it happens!

A Nicaraguan tuneup, huh? I think Roman Gonzalez is available. That'd be a solid tuneup for Estrada, .
