what type of boxing event generates more money and how exactly???

going to use two examples of boxing events, please fill me in on which type of event will typcically do better in the money made category and how exactly,,how much do ads play into money generated for free shows?

    1. a sold out boxing event (average priced tickets, 15k capacity arena) aired for free on NBC with a solid viewership rating, say maybe 2.5 - 3 million viewers*

    OR

    2. a sold out boxing event (average priced tickets, 15k capacity arena) aired on PPV with a price tag of $75 with a decent buyrate, say maybe 250k-450k PPV buys

**for the sake of argument lets assume the fight goes all 12 rounds so all the planned TV ads get shown during the broadcast,

impossible to answer. You outlined a price for the ppv, but no baselines for what they are selling :30 and :60 second spots for on the tv broadcast event.

That being said, even assuming they are getting top dollar for the spots there is no way it even comes close to the ppv revenue

remember, "ratings" have absolutely nothing to do with the revenue for that particular event. The spot prices have already been agreed to at that point. "good viewership" will only affect the spot price on the NEXT event......

I think its save to assume the PPV does better.

The PPV is generating ~$19M in revenue. Assuming we got a 3hr show with about ~45mins of ad time (think thats about right, might be a lil higher or lower idk) the free TV show would need to sell ad time at ~$415k per minute to equal the $19M in revenue the PPV generated. I doubt thats doable.
