I'm sure you would be mad too if you were a flip and a hardcore Paq fan..
I'm sorry, but I'm bneither "flip"-- as you put it-- nor mad. I am a Pacquiao fan, not hardcore. I am a JMM fan, and if you bother to check my previous posts, you'll see that I've put in praises for JMM-- in particular, about his sterling skills. I am a Rafa fan, and, again, if you check my posts, you'll see that I believe that he's the best at and anywhere close to his weight class. I am a fan of Morales, MAB, PBF.... and at my age, which is past fifty, I was and continue to be a fan of Ali, Hagler, Leonard, WBenitez, Arguello, Hearns, Duran....

I am what you would perhaps on better days call a moderate boxing fan...not too knowledgeable, but with just enough knowledge to remain a fan of the sport throughout the years. I am not rabid a follower of any fighter as many are; I like fighters for what they are able to do and what they accomplish in an often thankless sport.

What I love doing is cut to the chase: I look into the facts and try to get as close to the truth as the available facts allow me. If that offends certain fans, I guess, the facts should be blamed, not me.

I confess I am a bookwork: part of my trade. But, I'm sorry, I have seldom used a thesaurus. Haven't seen one in about two decades.

Sweet Science has provenance. Repeat, Romanza has zilch.

PROVENANCE is the word. It shall not be something you'll know the meaning of unless you try to go beyond the usual bad-mouthing of which there is such an over-abundance all throughout the net, anyone who does it with such relish as you seem to do, comes accross as utterly unimaginative and short of vocabulary.
What you dont' understand einstein, is that people name gyms or stores, a name they want to name it and a name that holds meaning to them.

Romanze may mean love..... a sport where the owner of the gym is passionet about. passion, passionet, love, romanze, a sport thats made HIM a millionair, priceless, no.. Romanze.

A sport that has taken him around the world and made him tons of money.

What better way to proclaim love for a sport then to name it Romanze. A name others may not have chosen but then again its his gym.

I'm afraid that there's such a thing as a "conventional understanding of words and phrases". While perhaps you may not care about such, it does exist. If it sounds gay to you, you may save it as your view, or better still call up Pretty Boy Floyd and talk about it to him. He's the one who's carrying the name.

All I did was point out that Mayweather is not the first to be given or to have taken on the moniker. All I did was provide you with a glimpse of the historical underpinning of the name.

I don't have Mayweather's phone number. I don't have any fighter's phone number. So, if you want to call him about his name, I guess you'll just have to seek others' help.

That is exactly the point of my original post: people can be named names and, like The Bard said, "...that which we call a rose with any other name would smell as sweet."

Believe me, it does not take too much gray cells to see that's what I said. If you just kindly bother to check the original post again, I said, I shall not be surprised if some time a heavyweight would go up the ring and call himself such a name as "Pretty Paul". It shall be his choice.
