the WBC champion is a champion. they are given a belt, so they hold a belt.

they are both a champion and a belt holder.

You must not be proficient in the English language. The word "Champion" is singular, not plural. There can only be one champion. How many times have you seen 2-3 NFL Championship teams at a time, or 2-3 NBA Championship teams at a time? How many Olympic Gold Medalists in each event?

There are many belt holders who claim to be "the champion", silver, intercontinental, european, etc., etc., etc. But only one Champion.

Let me ask you this... Who is the heavyweight Champion? Is it Wilder, Fury, or the winner of Glazkov-Martin?

I dont know, I think you are being a bit harsh. Lets look at football. You have the NFC North, South, East, and West Champions, the AFC North, South, East, and West Champions, then next round you have the AFC and NFC Conference Champions, and finally you have the Super Bowl Champion.

Boxing is just missing that last round where all the champs fight each other until there is only 1 left.

Fans are never going to agree on a champ, some will claim that the lineal is the champ, others will claim alphabet title holders are the champ, and others will claim that the "man to beat" (al la ggg) is the the champ.

Stevenson is definitely the lineal champ, regardless of the condition of Dawson when they fought. Kovalev is widely recognized as the best LHW in the world, but not the champ. There is a difference between the best fighter in a division and the Champion. The champion is still the champion until he is beaten or retires, but that doesn't always make him the best in his division.
Well Kovalev has 3 belts, what makes the lineal title the 'champion' verses the unifed champion? Who happens to be missing one belt. Same with GGG, there often isn't a conclusive champ in boxing but the fans do decide for the most part.

In my opinion lineal doesn't mean anything at all outside of extreme circumstances eg. Sergio Martinez when he was stripped of all belts, for example there hasn't been a lineal champion at featherweight in a decade but there have definitely been champions. Zsolt Erdei was not ever the 'champion' at 175 regardless of lineage. There hasn't been a lineal Bantamweight champion since 1987.

I understand what you are trying to say but lineage lost its meaning when the belts split into 4 and the champions could pick and choose who they fight in my opinion anyway.

It's not that bad Glazkov isn't a draw, so he'll be looking to unify as soon as he wins it to make some money.

It'll be Glazkov v Fury/Klitschko/Wilder/Joshua or even Haye.

Edit: assuming he wins it of course, Martin could win

Didn't know this part, very interesting.

Initially I was hearing that Duva was refusing to negotiate for step aside money from the start. Did that turn out to be untrue?
