He has'nt fought a welterweight ranked above the top 45. For a guy creeping into or close to a lot of peoples top 10-15, those are cans. I'm big on the kid, but the Barrera and Lo Greco's of the world are'nt going to help him improve as a fighter. Van Heerdeen is about the only guy he has fought that I would say was even close to the level of opposition he should be facing at this point, and that is just sad.

Decent scrap. Maybe PBC is learning from it's mistakes where they just put a big name on the undercard in a massive mismatch. Instead put 2 lesser known fighters in a real matchup that might generate some actual excitement because it's a competitive fight on paper. Or it could be PBC can't afford to keep losing money paying guys like Broner to on the undercard of these fights. Either way I'd rather see these type of fights then the former.Comment

No disrespect to Vazquez Jr. Or Martinez but that's not a good co main event fight. Santa Cruz or Mares should have been the co main event. Unless your a hardcore boxing fan you don't know who Vazquez Jr. Or Martinez are.
For a opening up a new network your going to tell me that Vazquez Jr vs Martinez is your main event??? Not sold.....step it up PBC....it's already bad that Garcia vs Guerrero is your main event......Comment

I hear you. But PBC tried this the first few months put big names to draw fans but all it did was lose them a ton of money and still generated crappy TV Ratings. So you seeing a big shift in PBC where they are taking their big names back to Showtime so they don't have to pay them out of PBC investors pockets. Jacobs vs Quillin is a fight that was supposed to be on PBC then moved to Showtime because they didn't want to pay the purses so they got Showtime to pay it. You seeing a ton of PBC cards and undercards the last few months being filled with Haymon's B and C class fighters instead of A class fighters from earlier in the year. Look at the names that were headlining NBC prime time early in the year to now prime time NBC being headlined by Figuroa. It's either a move to get die hard boxing fans back on board with PBC or it's a move limit the amount of money spent...really lost on these PBC cards. But yeah for a Fox debut this is a far cry from the star power that PBC used to launch on NBC and some of the other networks.
From a boxing fan point of view I much rather see this then pointless fights with named fighter vs nobodies like Quillin vs Zerafa. But from a casual fan point of view good luck drawing fans to watch Vazquez Jr and Martinez. But those 2 guys combined cost way less then getting another named fighter on the card. If the ratings are not going to be significantly swayed either way go with the cheaper more entertaining fight.Comment

I like this card, but I also think Garcia and Guerrerro are probably a lot closer at this point in there careers than most people think.
And now it has a pretty decent undercard.
Nothing to really get excited over though, it will be quite annoying hearing Garcia's trash can dad talk smack.Comment
