I think this is the biggest of all of their ridiculous creations. They have a 'super' champion in Golovkin, I don't know if he's ever fought a mandatory as super champion. Then there's Jacobs, I don't know if he's ever fought an interim champion, he's had two of them now and then they had Eubank, who they stripped and then decided to give a 'final eliminator' to fight the regular champion, but he was already in that position, presumably, before they stripped him. Then they gave his belt to Blanco after his fight to become the new interim champion, but you would think that would make HIM Jacobs' mandatory! So they have 3.5 Middleweight champions. And the last time I checked, they had 3 champions in at least 9 different divisions.

The WBA is hell. It's where bad people go when they die.

Do super wba champs have mandatories?

I think that's one of the perks of being a super champ it's why Sturm became one and didn't have to fight Golovkin

I may be wrong, but I believe that the super's mandatory is the regular world champion and it is due once every 18 months.

            Yeah I found it

The SUPER CHAMPIONS will be obliged to make the mandatory defense of their titles in a period no longer than 18 months against the boxer recognized as the World Boxing Association Champion of the corresponding division.

The WBA tried to make Golovkin defend against Fletcher last year, but K2 asked to be allowed to face Geale instead. That's when Jacobs' got to fight for the WBA regular title. So in theory, sometime around the middle of next year Golovkin will have to defend against the WBA regular champion.

Jacobs is supposed to face the winner of next weeks Eubank/O'Sullivan, then onto Gennady? Wishful thinking.

Generally mandatories for the WBA Super belt aren't called, as it's supposed to allow their champions to go and unify. The WBA regular has mandatories, but it's rare that a Super champ is forced to face the Regular champ. I.E Rigo was never mandated to fight Quigg. Kovalev hasn't been mandated to fight Braehmer. Golovkin hasn't been mandated to fight Jacobs. Sturm wasn't mandated to fight GGG (although Daniel Geale was after he beat Sturm, he refused and fought Mundine instead and the WBA stripped him. Until Rigo recently he was the last Super Champto be stripped as far as I can recall). Wlad was mandated to fight Povetkin I think.

And of course Ward was not mandated to fight Froch, it appears Froch was mandated to fight Ward, which is why he got stripped and not Ward too.

Basically, it's a clusterfūck, there's no consistent precedent set on when a Super champ has to fight the regular champ. There's no precedent set either on when a fighter should become a Super Champ, sometimes it's when they've unified, or when they've defended the belt several times, or in Adrien Broner's case after winning the vacant regular belt a month ago and not having a single defence.

I love the idea and can't wait...

I know Jacobs is down. And I know for damn sure GGG is down.

OK now I remember that's why Koki Kameda dropped his belt at bantum they didn't want to fight Moreno.

If Jacobs does happen to fight the winner of Lee/Saunders presuming it's Lee then he'd dump his regular belt the WBO doesn't allow unis w/2ndary wba champs,,, so there's that
