I've been saying all week that I thought Jacobs would stop Quillen. Becore the fight started I told my wife that Jacobs looked scary focused, and Quillen looked like he was wondering if he did enough in training. Although I thought Jacobs would win, I could never have imagined a first round stoppage. Here's to the barn burner that never happened.

I have no issue with the stoppage. Quillin was out. His eyes said it all. And even worse, there was still more than minute left in that round so there's no need to take any more punishment.
He could have taken a knee or clinch before a lot of those shots landed but he didn't do any of that and after that last hit, he was clearly out on his feet. So the ref did the right thing.
Don't know why some people always need a boxer to be on his back to be able to tell when they're out. It's a good they're not the refs.
Cong**** to Jacobs. I look forward to seeing more of his fights in the future. Great performance tonight, even if it was brief.Last edited by Mr. Punch-Out!!; 12-06-2015, 02:24 AM.Comment

Standing 8 count is against the rules. Quillen should have taken a knee, but he was so far gone there was no way he could make such a decision. As you saw, he was standing in the corner still out of it, and didn't protest the stoppage. Though I feel like the ref could have let him go, the boxing enthusiast in me knows Quillen was one punch away from being a doormat.Comment

It is not so much the stoppage that bothered me, it was the ref screwing up. He made the stoppage look unclean. It was unfair to Jacobs and Quillin. Maybe it is just me whining because 1st round stoppages like that, when a fighter gets caught cold bothers me. I feel like it only stirs the "what ifs" up even more LOLComment

That fight have been ruled a no-contest. Also, one must ask yourself why Mora did not petition for a no-contest since he surely would of gotten it. Could it be that Haymon prevented him from doing so by giving him some bull**** excuse such as it is better for your career or I can get u a rematch, or some other lie.Last edited by jdp28tx; 12-06-2015, 02:29 AM.Comment

No body will be upset GGG loses, because fighters like him, brave, take risk, fight and not run, almost always eventually get hit.
But as of yet, no one has come close. And no one will for a while longer.
Bye bye Canelo.Comment

based off the comments about this being a bad stoppage, dudes must've wanted to see Kid get killed in there....the stoppage was on point....the ref saved Kid's life....he was out on his feet....that said, I think a rematch should happen....one round of Kid getting beat up wasn't enough for me...I wanna see him get beat up some more
