  • Badou Jack: Forget April I'm Fighting In February 2016 With Or Without James Degale!

Jack says Degale "isn't a promoter" and can't dictate terms to fight in April. He says that he's back in the ring in February and the Degale fight can be made some point in the future.

I would assume Hearn was probably the one who gave Degale that date in the first place which is why he mentioned he'd like to face Jack in April during the post-fight Bute interviews.

Is Jack trying to avoid Degale by being awkward with his fight dates or is he actually willing to face him in a 168 championship showdown?

Chavez Jr is such a gift for every top fighter at 168.

I don't think he can live with any of them. I doubt he could even really compete with Bute.

I obviously don't know wtf is going on behind the scenes with this, as no one here does either I imagine, but seems like its better to fight someone, someone good hopefully, when you are ready to fight than plan for a date 2 mos later that may or may not come off. I feel like this is sorta like the situation Khan was in & Khan just sat on his hands instead of staying active & relevant.

I think its possible Jack can force the fight more by staying relevant & fighting as good of guys not named DeGale right now as a guy who's not in the shot maker position. DeGale clearly gots the better position with making demands here, imo, but its not that much better so if Jack is feeling like he's not getting his fair take this is the move to make. Maybe he can surpass him one way or another or DeGale meets him in the middle more than Jack is feeling is going on now.

**** that. The winner of DeGale/Jack should get Chavez Jr (like a win bonus).

Badou Jack is with Memo Heredia. Perhaps it has something to do with his PED cycling and that's why he must fight in Feb. and not wait until April :

Badou Jack fights Chavez Jr at some point in February (to pocket his own massive payday), before heading into the Degale fight for the early summer (imagine a split-site doubleheader, with Brook-Khan from Wembley and Jack-Degale from Vegas).

A February date seems to fall in line with the massive Frampton-Quigg fight due in Manchester, England; a pretty quick turnaround between fights (would come to about 14 weeks between fights, though enough time for a hard 8-week camp), but still doable.

You all think Chavez Jr is a gift but If you seen how awful DeGale looked against Bute and Dirrell you tell me that Chavez doesn't have a chance against some like DeGale?
I'd fancy Chavez to beat DeGale up.

Lol....wut? He didn't look awful in either fight. He beat two very good opponents in good style.

You're used to guys fighting bums so you aren't familiar with competitive matchups.

Dirrell was acceptable but he looked linear and absolutely hopeless at times in that fight looked like a fighter who only had a punchers chance without any real boxing IQ and he looked absolute terrible against Bute...
He should have definitely lost to Bute the funny thing is people want Golovkin to come up to fight these type of guys, he wont deserve the highest amount of credit for beating guys like Bute and DeGale.

                    In good style
I give him props for atleast going for Dirrell but he was absolute trash against Bute.
