    The psychological factor of fights

I rarely see on here with you ****s discussion of the most important muscle a boxer has - that between his ears.

I keep reading the Wlad-Fury threads, and I keep reading about reach/speed/movement/angles/age.. all of which yes, DID play a factor, but oddly for a fight which was SO psychological, I'm seeing very little talk about it.

When Fury was putting his hands behind his back (for just a split second in the first round, but for longer periods as it went on) he wasn't taking a risk for the sake of it. He was deliberately sending signals to Wlad and... ah, I'm tired. I'll call you ****s again tomorrow. Night.

Aye... Wlad's always been mentally quite fragile, of course.

The psychological qualities of a boxer are the following:

          Preserverence
          Will
          Sureness
          Self-Control
          Independence
          Observation Capacity
Perception of distance of the punch in relation to the adversary in the ring when moving
          Perception of time of combat
Perception of the body position in a chest to chest combat
Perception of changing of rhythm in the combat
          Quickness of decision making
          Confidence in one's abilities
Disposition to fight until the end
          Self-regulation of emotional impulses

The qualities that are in bold are where Wlad failed and why he failed. He never really had any good coaching. He also appears to fight like someone who started boxing in his later years although it might not be the case. However, people who start boxing later usually are more afraid and less accustomed to getting hit. But Wlad's biggest issues are the lack of perception of rhythm change; perception of distance when the opponent is moving and quickness of decision making.

You look at him against Ibrahimov, Haye and Fury and it's the same story. When somebody moves, changes rhythm Wlad cannot adjust and that messes up with him psychologically.

Hence, the spongy maths. Now give me my PHD in breaking down Wlad's psychology.

I dunno... I think it's more someone projecting psychology rather than their own state, but hey...
