Hopefully they can agree on a fair weight for both and make this happen! 157lbs is a good meeting point for both. For the life of me I can't understand the logic of Canelo draining himself down to 155lbs only to pack on 20lbs over night.

I like the compromise WBC threw out there a week ago. Sign a contract to fight in Sept. and meanwhile share a card in may. It's a win win for everyone. GGG gets to be on the undercard of Canelo May fight and it helps boost his fanbase. Everyone makes a nice paycheck it helps sell the next PPV. And now a PPV is sept is bigger then it would be if it were in May. GGG has a guarantee for a big fight in Sept NOT a step aside fee which guarantees no future fight, an actual contract for Sept. Both collect a paycheck along the way and both sides roll in the dough in Sept mega fight PPV. Now the key is what weight will the fight be at? Split the difference between 155 and 160 seems fair. 157/158 I think gets it done. GGG is not getting 160 he is the clear B side. But if you talking about going to 154 for Floyd and everyone says he makes 160 so easy then 157/158 should not be a problem.

OK, well let me try to help you.....

FACT #1: Canelo made 155, and could easily make 154
FACT #2: Canelo remained healthy for 12 rounds.

        You know what I can't understand..... ?

A guy who recently stated that he can beat any fighter at 154, and happens to be desperate for top-level exposure considering his recent PPV flopped..... walking away from a huge payday rather than fighting a genuine star who he said that he could beat.

I will never fkn figure that one out LMAO

Great. Now they have more time to find opponents for the Cinco De Mayo double header and plan a promotion for the September fight.

No problem, it's not like another week really impacts anything.
Glad to hear that they're talking.

this is just the first step with the WBC placating canelo and STRETCHING/DRAGGING it out as long as they can.

Floyd vs Pac situation bore out a lot of future career strategical moves.
Floyd & Manny never had a mandatory to face each other and they faced good fighters in the meanwhile. You gonna pay to see GGG vs Johnson or Canelo vs Lemeiux? I know I won't.

                      This -

LAS VEGAS -- Former junior middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez knew ahead of time that he would not be able to make the 154-pound weight limit for Saturday night's showdown with Mexican countryman Alfredo Angulo at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, so an increase was negotiated ahead of Friday's weigh in.

According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Angulo agreed to change the contract to 155 pounds. In addition, Alvarez, who is due to earn a minimum $1.25 million, agreed to pay Angulo and additional $100,000, raising his purse to $850,000.

Alvarez further agreed to a weight check on Saturday at which he cannot weigh more than 168 pounds at 6 p.m. ET.
