As for Lineal it's an imaginary title. It doesn't exist, it has no physical form. It's all in the head of the spectator.

You can say Canelovwill remain Lineal Champion but I can say that with ducking and dropping the belt he forfeits his claim to the title.
Lineal is the only title that really matters..and Ring never said he would be stripped for dropping the WBC..what rule is that?

Lineal doesn't matter because it's not real. You're using lingo from decades ago that no longer applies to this boxing landscape. If Canelo drops the belt and GGG beat Saunders he's the only champion in the division.

No one with a ounce of common sense will refer to Canelo as a MW champion.

I wasn't wrong, a$$wipe. This craven request creates a bunch of precedents:

          1. First time a champ demands a CW from a mando, never mind lineal champ
          2. First champ that demands a maximal CW
          3. First champ to demand a CW while coming in heavier than the challenger fight night.

Most pitiful CW demand ever, no contest

I agree with this. The lineal title is not enforced. Fighters, sancitoning bodies, commissions do not acknowledge it, there is no ranking system, there is no system in place to establish a number 1 contender, etc. It doesn't have the meaning that it once did.

You can't be a champion in a division and not make title defenses against top ranked contenders in the division. That's not how the sport is supposed to work.

Canelo can just sit there and bring fighters up from 154 and make a killing..GGG is going to have to make a crucial decision here because Canelo honestly does not need him at all.
I agree with you he doesn't need him at all. But if GGG agrees to 155 I think the fight still won't get made.

He's getting another title form the next best fighter at his weight by pure intimidation. That's pretty impressive.

What potential Canelo opponents, that he hasnt already faced, could draw any PPV's? Let alone 150k vs a relative no name with not much of an undercard.

GGG is his biggest money fight. Stop acting like this fight wouldnt sell, it would be massive. The reason that it isnt happening is that Canelo or his team are not confident they can get the W.
