  • Comments Thread For: Jacobs vs. Quillin Weigh-In Results From Brooklyn

Daniel Jacobs and Peter Quillin are set to square off in a middleweight bout billed as the Battle for Brooklyn. The two are set to hit the scales momentarily ahead of their Showtime-televised headliner Saturday evening at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The opening bout of the telecast pits reigning featherweight titlist Jesus Cuellar versus Puerto Rico's Jonathan Oquendo.

Both fighters weighed in at 125.25 lbs.

Cuellar (27-1, 21KOs) makes the second defense of his full version of the featherweight title. The southpaw from Argentina - who turns 28 later this month - is coming off of an 8th round knockout of Vic Darchinyan in June. He picked up an interim title with an Aug. '13 win over Claudio Marrero, defending three times before receiving the upgrade to full title status.

why cant ggg make a real effort to fight them? hes the champ its his decision whether they make a real attempt at a fight or not. dont worry ggg will be fighting another bum on canelos undercard in may. GGG is the one held down by an exclusive network deal that makes it next to impossible to make fights with none hbo fighters

Get over it, Haymon used to sign his guys to exclusive HBO deals all the time - Mayweather, Berto, P.Williams, Arreola all had exclusive deals. Then he had Stevenson & Khan sign exclusive deals with Showtime, so stop.

Tell me again why Stevenson can't just name his price for Kovalev and fight on HBO? His Showtime contract was only for 3 fights and is over now. Dude won't even try. And Quillin just said he needed $5-$10mill for a Golovkin fight. The man's terrified and content to stay in Golovkin's shadow.

and that somehow changes what i said how? bottom line is ggg is the one with the exlusive deal and hes the one that would have to show hes serious about making a fight. if u cant tell the whole haymon wont make fights is pretty much being debunked. GGG is the one that would have to show hes serious these hbo exclusive deals make it nearly impossible to make fights because it pretty much ends negotiations before it starts because there is nothing to negotiate

The winner only got 60 days to fight Chris Eubank Jr.

Evidently they're planning the WBO "unification".... but I don't think they recognize the WBA regular as a champion while the super is in effect... so I guess they're vacating and Eubank Jr will be fighting whoever for the "regular".
