I'm no fan of Wilder by any means, but even with that to one side this does nothing to change my opinion on him being yet another pointless belt holder. How can anyone, not least somebody professionally involved in the sport, think that the WBC belt holds more weight than winning a clean sweep of the titles EXCEPT for that one in particular?
It isn't. Winning a clean sweep of a bunch of titles totally out weighs the holding of just the WBC. Forgetting about the credibility and weight of each body for a moment...In this case, there is no comparison, there is no debate.
This is just yet another example of why having so many belts has played a huge part in ruining the sports appeal.
Tyson Fury = The Heavyweight Champion.
Deontay Wilder = A Heavyweight title holder.
And thats not even the worst example by any means when it comes to some divisions true champion distinctions.
You're right he does have a lot to learn, but Fury hasn't shown anything special. Even in beating Wlad he really just out sized him. Fury can get caught and go down easy. He isn't the strongest in the world, and his jab is slow as molasses. I think Deontay is just a more gifted fighter, and if he avoids the jab, he can get a nasty KO on Fury.
Especially if he hasnt fixed that over hand right issue. Wilder will ko for sure. Gotta give it to Fury tho, if he continues to use his size, may be boring but whatever works.
The reigning heavyweight champion of the world speaks the truth!!
Wilder is the best heavyweight champion in the world right now, you can either accept it or look foolish denying it.
