Can Quillin/Jacobs vs GGG Ever Become Worth the Networks Working Together?

If the battle of Brooklyn is a commercial success and a fan friendly fight, you will have a local hit in the Quillin/Jacobs winner and GGG who can sell out Madison Square. Combine the two and you may get a major headliner in the big apple. Then you have Hershman resigning at HBO which may open doors for Haymon fighters to come back to the network.

It looks like Lee vs BJ will fight the winner of Quillin/Jacobs. In the meantime GGG can fight Canelo and the winners of those fights can go at it for the undisputed crown.

if it makes money it makes sense

basically jacobs/quillin need to work their way into a mandatory slot for one of GGGs belts and the fight will happen

I don't think much of Quillin or Jacobs. What I saw in Quillin vs Rosado and Lee I was not impressed. With Jacobs, I think he's going to get seriously hurt one day if Mora can drop him any top fighter can.

That will never happen. Right now they get sanctioning fees from PBC and HBO. This is great business for them.

Absolutely not, Quillin vs Jacobs is not really that important a fight, they have both been exposed to a degree, they are not draws, and they can't fit into middleweight anymore.

The upper bowl is closed off.

I want to say this is surprising considering it's a local friendly card and this is the "Battle for Brooklyn"....but neither guy has headlined their own main event and spent most of their time on undercard. You don't just hop up to Barclays for your first main event.

I mean, their build up has happened primarily on undercards

Honestly it's not surprising for me, both guys are not really popular. Quillin is a superstar in his own mind, but he can't draw for ****, and he is delusional about his standing in the sport; just listen to him talk about fighting Golovkin or "inspiring people" lol. Two years ago Quillin showed potential, he has been exposed since(he hasn't lost but that's not everything), and Jacobs, I am sorry to say, has mainly ridden the cancer thing. Haymon is trying to shove these guys down people throat but that's not how it works, he should push fighters that have true potential like Vasquez and Thurman.
