Comments Thread For: Fury vs. Glazkov To Head Straight To Purse Bids

The dust has barely settled on Tyson Fury’s unanimous decision win over long-reigning world heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko in Germany on Saturday night. However, the newly minted Champion has already discovered that boxing moves fast when you are a multi-title holder after the IBF revealed that Fury's mandatory defence against Yyacheslav Glazkov is heading to purse bids.

So I guess Wilder/Glazkov is off? His manager just said the negotiations for the Wilder fight should be done this week.

The mandatory challenger for the IBF world heavyweight title is Ukrainian contender Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov (21-0-1, 13KOs). The unbeaten boxer could end up facing WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder on January 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. But now an even tastier option has come up. Tyson Fury caused a huge stir in the boxing world on Saturday night in Germany, where he won a twelve round unanimous decision over heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko to capture the IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO world belts.

Isn't this essentially the same thing GYM did relative to Stevenson/kov fight-refuse to negotiate and go right to purse bid?

Kathy whines about this then does the same thing. What a ****ing cvnt!!

Trying to pick up a title without having to fight the champ, they know Fury has a Klitchko rematch he must fight.

The IBF should offer Fury an extension surely?

Yep. But in this case I'd say she's worse. GYM & ME had a history of not being able to make the Kovalev/Stevenson fight work and there was bad blood between those two. The purse bid was the only way that fight was going to happen. In this case they haven't even attempted to negotiate with Fury's promoter. Main Events worked with Mick Hennessy for Cunningham/Fury so I don't think there's any bad blood between those two.
