I like Canelo but he's not what the "Chicano" people believe him to be....imo he lost to Lara & the Cotto fight was a draw plus got schooled by Mayweather....Canelo is a B+ Solid Competitor but is not Elite....GGG will destroy this redhead if he ever gets in the ring with him at 160lbs....the only people who will deny this are Mexican-american (Chicano) fanboys & Mexican women.....

Canelo is who he is. A great fighter in his own right. Takes on all comers, and when you take on all comers you're going to have close fights. It happens!

He is not however the 2nd coming of Chavez Sr, which is what a lot of people try to hold him up to. Because he's mexican, has popularity and has won some big fights people immediately try to compare him to Chavez. He isn't. No one is. Chavez was one of a kind, and set the bar so high for Mexican fighters, it will be impossible for anyone to ever match that.

Canelo's offense is A+ stuff. His defense is underrated. The only thing he lacks IMO is foot work. Trout fight could've went either way, same can be said for the Lara fight. I thought although most of the rounds were close Canelo beat
Cotto 8-4. His only lopsided loss came at the hands of Floyd Mayweather. No shame in that. Canelo's a solid Mexican fighter. If he can drain GGG under 158 I give him a good shot at beating him too.

That is what Televisa said about him when he fought for them. That his fights had ratings of a Telenovela.

His ratings have continued since he switched with TV Azteca. Canelo/Kirkland had like 19 million viewers in Mexico. I don't know how much Canelo/Cotto was but I can assume it was much larger.

They hate him tho.
