I think he's legit no 2 HW in the world. Just saw he opened at -225 vs Povetkin or a pretty solid favorite

Id rank Fury, Wlad and Povetkin over Wilder

You can argue all day about where to rank Wlad now. But I dont see the dispute with Fury and Povetkin

Wilder would destroy the Wlad that fought last night. He looks shot. Wilder is already a pretty strong favorite vs Povetkin and the spread will only grow. I'd say Ill wait to see how Fury-Wlad 2 goes before I say who's better btw Fury and Wilder

Don't need to read that entire diatribe. Yes he is because fury is the real champ of the division. That simple.

I consider Fury right now THE heavyweight champion of the world. Wilder is a belt holder but Fury is the man as it stands.

I wouldn't say he's a paper champion, but when you consider who he fought before he got a shot, then fought Stiverne who won the vacant one in a fight with Arreola it's hard to take him seriously as a champion when you consider what the other champion Fury has done to win the belts. 3 final eliminators until he finally got his shot, went to Germany and took the belts from the best heavyweight of this era.

If someone calls him a paper champion though, i wouldn't really disagree either.

Put it this way, if someone asked you yesterday who is Heavyweight champion of the world, you would answer one name without hesitation "Klitschko", so now that has to be "Fury" - Wilder is an afterthought.

He did beat a champion. Albeit one who looked utterly sh.it on the night. But currently he is not worth really looking at too closely. He is fighting puddings.

He's a "champion" who is in reality ranked 4th in his division and picked up a vacated side-belt so yeah. That's literally what "paper champion" means. He's only champion on some legal forms.

To be fair, it's a good spot to be in. Before, it was just another lamb to sacrifice to Wlad. He ****ed around fighting bums and now Fury is champ. That opens up a rivalry western audiences might buy into.

Wilder is a paper champion and isn't very good. He lucked out Sat night because I think he can beat Fury but not Wlad, even shot Wlad.

I guess Fury WLad 2 happens. Then maybe we get Fury/Wilder before the end of the year.

Stiverne was a good win. Wilder's not the man to beat in the division but he deserves the belt he has (But I suppose this means my answer should be 'yes'). One would hope he will make a legit defense against Povetkin while we await a likely Fury/Klitschko rematch.
