Uh, no. Most people did not think that at all as can very easily be verified by looking at the pre-fight discussion thread. Wlad was the overwhelming favourite. In fact lots of people still think Wilder, Joshua, Ortiz etc would knock out Fury now.

If completely outboxing a dominant ten year champ who many Klittards thought was impossible to outbox isn't an impressive win then you have exceedingly high standards my friend. Or you're just a flat out hater.
I should of finished my sentence, most of the fans on the Fury hype train said he would KO Wlad

HOF yes, not ATG. His era was weak, weak, weak.
So was Joe Louis's. So was Larry Holmes's.

I like to think that greatness shouldn't be limited only to those lucky few to fight in an historically strong era. Dominance and longevity can balance out big wins or memorable fights, as they should, since a champion's worth should be measured as much by how long he holds the title as who he defends it against (provided he doesn't duck anyone).

Wlad was the clear number one for over a decade, consistently fighting the very best his division had to offer and dominating them. Regardless of what people think of the era (which was dull moreso than weak in my opinion) that's a hugely impressive feat and one which has been achieved by only a handful of people in history for the simple reason that it's freaking difficult to do.

How many champions had off-nights, or dialled it in and nearly paid the price? Wlad never had one of those. He never even had a close fight or controversial decision go his way, and considering the amateur credentials of several of his opponents that's pretty amazing. Wlad can retire now and I think history will be very complimentary of him, as it won't be towards his brother for instance.

A lot depends on how Fury's career pans out though. If Fury goes on to greatness himself, then Wlad's loss will be significantly marginalised.

Who were a tiny fraction of people compared to the overwhelming numbers on the other side. What's your point with this?

Personally I don't see any shame in a long-running but aging champion losing the title to a young up and comer, but then again I consider Fury to be the next dominant heavyweight in the division, as will be proved over the next few years. When you look at the fight in that context, it's really not such a big deal. I hope Wlad shows some fire in the rematch and actually goes for the KO this time, but even if he loses (which he will) he can still make a good account of himself with a valiant effort.

And he'll always be more respected historically than his brother, however people want to spin it.
Absolutely he won't. Fury is a joke but he caught Vlad on just the right night. Any big puncher who takes it to Fury will KO him. He's a devastating KO waiting to happen... Wilder, Joshua flattens him, hell even Haye.

Fury outboxes any HW in the world, including those bums you just mentioned.

Nobody has Tyson's mix of and size and skills. The only person capable of beating Fury is himself.

You should respect the man who took your boxing hero to school.
