Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury: If I Lose - I'm a Fraud, Retirement Possible!

Tyson Fury claims he may retire from boxing if he fails to beat world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and is left feeling like "a fraud" on Saturday.

The 6ft 9ins Traveller challenges Klitschko for the Ukrainian's WBA, WBO and IBF belts in Dusseldorf insisting the bout is "just another fight".

He is understandably confident of beating the odds at the ESPRIT Arena and claims, truthfully or not, that failure would make him consider walking away.

Has Fury ever been in a really tough fight before?

Fury actually has never been in a tough fight before-EVER. Look at Fury's meager record of no name opponents and easy fights in a padded fake career. Wlad will test the weak resolve of the lumbering clumsy Oaf Fluff Fury. A clinch fest is expected with both men grabbing and leaning into each other. Soon we will see if the Fluff Fury is actually a true world class boxer or just a world class azz.

As a fan of Fury + amateur psychologist & someone who's listened to hours of him talking about strategy & life & all sorts of **** I think all this retirement talk (if he wins or loses) is just a self-trick to get him focused on the task at hand. All that he can fathom right now is Klitschko & nothing exists after that to him yet. I expect him to leave it all in the ring today win or lose.

i hate this kind of talk, and i especially hate how common it seems to be amongst british fighters. if wlad had this attitude he would have retired in 2003 or '04 after being splattered and never would have reached greatness. mental toughness means accepting the inevitability of adversity and becoming a better fighter through it

If Fury loses its not that Furys no good, it just maybe Wlad is better than you thought he was.

So learn from the loss and then beat Wilder. Being a heavyweight champ is the goal and Fury mustn't lose sight of that.

Fury IS a fraud!!! Who has he fought? Cunningham floored him... FFS! Klitchko is having a tough time finding opponents and feels sorry for him because he doesn't like to see gypsies eat roadkill, so he is giving him a huge paycheck. It's his way of giving to the homeless...

I like fury. He brings a lot of entertainment, but he will lose this fight.

                    I'd say that's about right.

I think it was the same with Haye, i think Haye is an excellent fighter but i think Wlad was just better than he expected. People have this stereotypical image that he is a big stiff robot of a fighter which really isn't true. Haye was expecting a stiff robot and realised quickly that Wlad moves well actually and was right there with him in every movement. It doesn't make Haye a bad fighter and it wouldn't make Fury a bad fighter if he loses.

Of course, in one sense i can understand the mentality though in a way. Some people only have a desire to be the very best and if they realise they're not, some can't just keep going and accept being second best, they see it as pointless. It's not a bad mentality in some ways. Refusing to be second best is what get's people to the top, it's just not everybody can be at the top. So we'll see if Fury can or not.
