Comments Thread For: Frank Warren on Golovkin-Canelo, DeGale-Bute, More

Tonight, another Brit will be involved in a world title fight when James DeGale makes a first defence of his IBF super-middleweight title against Lucian Bute in Quebec. I happen to think this is a tougher job for DeGale than it may seem.

I know Bute has had a poor performances at the top level against Jean Pascal and of course, Carl Froch who blitzed him out in five rounds, but this is in Canada fighting in front of his home fans and I thought there were moments when DeGale won the title against Andre Dirrell that he looked vulnerable.

I personally like Mr. Warren's insights into the fights, he is right up there with the best reviewers in the sport I reckon . I personally believe that he is spot on about DeGale in regards to his title winning effort. Had Andre Dirrell shown a little more of anything on that night we would not be talking about Mr. DeGale at all now. The second half of the fight was a bust for the some to become new champion. I had DeGale only winning 2 of the last 7 rounds (and I think I was not alone in that regard) and not because Dirrell was doing anything special but because DeGale didn't do "f" all in that time frame. Bute has looked bad in his last fight, how he got a shot I don't care to know, and that is the only reason that I can find to favour DeGale. I shall be an interested observer this evening.
