Bread puts his money where his mouth is by matching J-Rock with Mexican style fighters in 7 or his last 9 fights.

I don't think there is anything wrong with rooting for fighters based on race/nationality/ethnicity.

It only makes me mad when people are hypocrites about it. They complain about others who do it while doing it themselves. At least be consistent.

The Mike Laffleur question was ill thought out. When he used the analogy of certain NFL teams not wanting to face the Patriots, then went forward by saying that less guaranteed money will be the cure, all the while failing to acknowledge that the players on NFL/NBA/MLB teams get GUARANTEED money regardless. Thats the reason they can take tough games because they will be paid regardless. Boxers stock go down with every loss and make less money. If he really wants a cure, it would be guaranteed money on yearly contracts with performance bonuses. They wouldn't care who they fought in that case.

That whole "warrior" mindset is asinine. Who are you at war with? What are you at war for? Are you stopping slavery, ending genocide, invading the beaches of Normandy to stop Hitler? No. You're fighting another person from just as much poverty as you in order for wealthy and middle-class people have some entertainment. The same people who won't give a damn about you if you ever go back to poverty. Its like the Hunger Games. You guys hate business? So what. I'm just happy to see these guys make it out of poverty, and hopefully stay out.

Thats why I like bread, because he keeps it real, always puts the sport first.

Some silly golovtard thought that he would gain bread's support for his "Golovkin didn't really duck Ward, honest" campaign.

You fanboys are out on your own, fighters/trainers/insiders ALL know whats up..... and, they are ALL saying the exact same thing.

            It is what it is.

Golovkin has ALLLLL of these excuses, he uses a different one every day..... and yet Kovalev/Ward was simple, and a no-brainer..... well, Golovkin/Ward was just as simple you asshats.

And Golovkin/Lara is a dead fkn easy, simple-as fight to make as well.

Golovkin has the EXACT resume' he wanted.

            But..... all aboard anyways.....

It's pretty ignorant, and you won't have much luck.

Surely there are more meaningful, relevant, ways to view boxing ?

Look at Amir Khan. He's a Muslim Pakistani living in England yet his fellow countrymen support him when he fights. Manny Pacquiao is a Philipino who fought in the U.S with a huge American following. Etc..

Do we have racist fans? Of course just like in every sport. Rooting for a fellow countryman or fighter of the same nationality does not make someone racist though.
Um nationalism and racism are totally different things. Racism is physical discrimination (usually skin colour), nationalism is discrimination between state allegiances. The Chinese supporting their olympic athletes is a form of nationalism. Discriminating against someone because they 'look' chinese would be racism. Wanting only black fighters to succeed regardless of which country they are from is racism. Simple stuff man..

In my opinion, if people have the same values and you appreciate them in the sport, it shouldn't matter where they come from OR what skin colour they are.

                    humans are inherently racist.

                    humans are involved in boxing.

                    hence racism's presence in boxing.

                      They are both a disease.

                      Neither should be encouraged.
