Comments Thread For: Peter Quillin Aims To Inspire, Create Positive Impact

By Thomas Gerbasi - So many come to New York seeking to make their dreams come true. An 18-year-old Peter Quillin was no different when he left a dead end existence in Grand Rapids, Michigan for an uncertain fresh start in the Big Apple.

“At that time, New York was the place because I had opportunity right in front of me,” he recalled. “I always told myself as a kid that if I ever had an opportunity to live in New York, I would take it. And I’m very glad that I made the decision to live there.”

Quillin, who now makes his home in Brooklyn, can say that now, as he’s an unbeaten former world middleweight champion with a chance to earn that crown once more on December 5th when he meets WBA titlist Daniel Jacobs at Barclays Center. But on his first day in his new surroundings, it would be more intimidating than anything he would face in the ring.

“My first day in New York was a culture shock,” he said. “I was looking around, I wasn’t sure what everything meant, where all these people were going. But I got through all those moments and now I’m part of those people.” [Click Here To Read More]

Quillin has no charisma, he is a ducker and it looks like he gonna **** himself when he is in the ring. How can he inspire?

He inspires coward-business men everywhere with his insipid performances and fantastic theatre-swerving skills.

I'd say he has the least fans of any boxer that is near the top of their division.

Here's a guy who is literally one phone call away from unifying the 160lb division! Just think about that for a second. But for some reason, he doesn't seem the least bit interested to fight GGG for it.

                Who's Next?

The question for Mr. Quillin and Mr. Jacobs is who would they fight next in this hot division right now?

The majority of the best Middleweight fighters in the world are with HBO and are not with Al Haymon. Canelo, GGG, Cotto, David Lemieux, etc....are making way more money than Quillin or Jacobs are with other promotions that are signed to HBO.

I might be wrong but I believe the Andy Lee/Saunders both stated that they want GGG next.

Also from a business perspective they probably both make way money fighting GGG or Canelo than they would fighting the Quillin/Jacobs winner.

It should be interesting to see where they both go after this fight.

I actually hope Quillin looks good against Jacobs. I'd like to see him built back up to being a big opponent for Golovkin. Before the Rosado fight, lots of people argued Quillin was better than Golovkin. And before he vacated his belt and took a long layoff, Quillin was still seen as Golovkin's biggest challenge.

The WBA mandated Quillin/Jacobs vs Eubank/O'Sullivan for next. I doubt Eubank takes it though.

Saunders said if he beats Lee, he'll need 18 months before he'd fight Golovkin.

Al Haymon paid Lee $1.5mill to fight Quillin, that's probably more than he'll get to fight Golovkin next year if they do fight.
