in a way I agree with Coach....Roach is the KING of excuses....I was going for Cotto and gave him EVERY round that I could....still had Nelo winning 7-5...so 8-4 is possible...Nelo was too big but Cotto showed heart...he took some big shots and fired back every time....Nelo won but those 11-1, 10-2, and 9-3 cards were ALL wrong

Got fools talking about I scored the fight a split decision. How the f is that even possible if you scoring the fight? lol
Cotto lost the only debate is should the scores of been closer. But the right guy won. I gave cotto 3 rounds. I could see if you looking for charity giving cotto 4. Once you start talking that cotto won 6 or more rounds it's clear you have an agenda or don't know boxing.

Roach did run his big mouth constantly about Canelo
Shakey freddy insulted Canelo and his trainers at every opportunity before the fight with degrading low comments and negative feedback on flame top Mex Canelo and his inept trainers. Cotto beat a gimp on one leg in the over rated old Sergio the fraud and then KO'd the weaker still worhtless Aussie wimp Danny Girl Geale by KO as Geale gave up in typical Aussie fashion. Cotto is a good fighter not a great fighter as freddy is a great insulter along with being a good trainer. Roach's big mouth was almost as big as all the pre fight hype for flame top and the battered slow Rican Cotto. Antonio the great Aztec Warrior god of all mexico Margarito softened up Cotto for Canelo red to finish off. It's the mexican way. Burro that. Burrito breath

Canelo defense and countering took away cottos jab and he was to afraid to sit down on his punches because he would of been knocked out. He missed 500 of the punches he threw. Plus there is a reason despite all the crying and sore lose tactics from cotto he hasn't talked rematch and neither has roach. Matter fact roach said if cotto don't retire he thinks he should move back down in weight and he would like to see canelo fight GGG. Sure don't sound like roach wants canelo again. Only mystery if they fight again is will cotto get knocked out this time.
Great post here. My thoughts exactly. If they fight again, Canelo WILL KO Cotto. He admired Cotto the first time around and showed him too much respect. He was toying with Cotto and never left 2nd gear, it seemed. Cotto and Floyd both lose to Canelo at this stage.

Cotto was believing his own hype after beating a one legged Martinez. I will say this, i'm surprised Cotto stayed upright the whole fight. He can get props for that but no way was he going to be able to win that fight on the jab alone and Canelo did a great job taking away the hook.

Pretty much why Canelo was rocking Cotto and Cotto was not even budging Canelo.
Either way, a fight isn't judged based on who's face loox the best or who lands the harder punches. Its based on effective aggression, clean punching, ring generalship, and defense. Neither was very aggressive. There wasn't a huge amount of clean punching, even though both landed clean shots. And even though Canelo landed the harder blows. The rule isn't, "clean hard punches." Its clean punching. And that was pretty much a wash. Ring generalship is where I felt Canelo won the fight. He got done what he wanted to get done moreso than Cotto. He also seemed to get done what he wanted to get done easier than Cott was able to. Every bit of success Cotto had seemed to come at a cost, or was way too difficult to sustain it. And defensively, I thought both guys fought very well. I was very impressed by both guys defensively.
