He does beat Trout in a rematch, and he does last all 12 rounds and does better vs Pacquiao in a rematch. Call it regression in Trout and Pacquiao's case, but Cotto did improve a little anyway, he tries to box more now, he was too proud to try to outbox opponents back in the day, he traded more often. If we talk about 2011 Cotto vs present Canelo, I think Canelo takes him out. And the vulnerable 2009-2010 rebuilding Cotto was a mess. Many, many posters on this site thought Foreman would beat Cotto, that was the low point of Cotto's career. Cotto had just escaped MSG with a lucky win over Clottey and got whooped by Pacquiao. Foreman was riding high with his win over Santos in the Pac-Cotto undercard. It was not 50-50, Cotto was favored but not heavily.

At this point, with the way Trout looked vs that guy on ESPN, Daniel Dawson, getting dropped like 2 times, and getting dropped 3 fights in a row and going back to the soft touches that made Jrosales13 and a few others hype him up and label him feared, and the future of JMW, Cotto beats Trout now. Cotto is older but Trout is now more vulnerable. I hope this rematch happens for the people who laugh at the thought of Cotto beating Trout in a rematch, considering the first fight was close after Cotto was coming off a loss.
