Not always the case, that fight at the weekend reminded me that Canelo won a vacant world title against Matthew Hatton and Cotto 'earned' one against Michael Jennings.

I think he's unfortunate not to have won a world title. He could/should of been given the nod in his first 2 attempts IMO.

Respect to him, all his attempts have been on the road and against quality opposition. There's plenty of champions out there who have won a title taking lesser fights.

Well...that's kinda the point you fcking ******.

He earned the win over Martinez wether he was on the slide or not, who gives a fck, Sergio was still the champ at that time and Murray went over to his back yard and beat him fair and square.

He did ''EARN'' that title and was quite clearly robbed.

It's funny you mention earning titles as Murray was not as smart as others obviously. He could have gone down the Adrien Broner route of earning titles by beating all time greats such as erm erm Eloy Perez and Gavin Rees and Paulie Mailinaggi to become the twenty three time world champion in fourteen different weight divisions champ he is today and maybe then he'd have earnt them in your eyes?

Murray was never the most talented boxer in the world but he was quite clearly robbed against Sergio and for a ex con who was never the most naturally talented boxer in the world he deserves massive amounts of respect.

            He was shafted against Sergio.

He dropped him with a hard right hand to the head and the referee called it a slip .

                The people's champ.

He'll still lose a Split Decision for the people's champ belt

MM lost himself that fight with AA, needed to show that workrate that he did against Sturm to beat someone like AA.
He just got exposed again vs groves

I like Murray and have rooted for him many times. He's not a very good fighter though. A shot Grooves just beat him cleanly. Martin has a horrible ring IQ, though he's the kinda guy you want to root for because he's likeable.
This thread wouldn't happen to be a poorly veiled attempt to bolster Golovkin would it? (I already know the answer)

Why do people always conveniently ignore Khomitsky when discussing Murray's close fights? Why are people pretending that never happened?
