Comments Thread For: Roach: Canelo Improved, I'd Love To See Him Face GGG

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach credits Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs) as displaying a lot of improvements last Saturday night, when Canelo won a twelve round unanimous decision over former four division world champion Miguel Cotto at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Coming in to the fight, Roach saw a lot of holes in Canelo's game. He says the Mexican star has vastly improved and fixed a lot of deficiencies, including some that were present in his big knockout of James Kirkland in May.

Sorry Freddie, this fight will only happen at Canelo's new designated weight class of 155 and 2 quarters.

I agree with Roach on this one. Canelo improved and GGG vs. Canelo has to happen now. Canelo enters the ring at over 170 Pounds so it is a fair fight. Cottos punches had zero effect on Canelo because he is verry solid. i dont agree with the judges but Canelo won the fight. Canelo vs. GGG make it happen!

Canelo is facing opponents 10-15 years older than him

And they're not jus older and more seasoned they are the elite best in the sport

We ask a lot from this kid and I give him credit he doesn't seem to shy away from challenges or our expectations of what a truly great fighter is.

This fight should happen next. Nothing else before that for either of them. Get straight to this fight.

Roach wants to see Nelo get KOd for what he did to Cotto.
