Canelo was well prepared, he just isn't the type of fighter to trouble mayweather....he isn't busy enough nor fleet footed enough, not a one punch hitter or swarmer.....he is and always will be the grasshopper....he mimics Mayweather a lot, he had the wrong game plan, experience wasn't the problem

Imo opinion it was the gameplan that cost Cotto the fight. For me it was Cottos movement...at some points he was just moving to stay outtta range when he shouldve been moving to get angles. He shouldve been countering more..making Canelo miss, making him pay. I think the outcone can be pin-pointed to Canelo winning the exchanges.

Cotto didn't listen much to Freddie, all because of the size difference, Canelo clearly hit harder and Cotto didn't listen when he was told not to allow Canelo to come forward. What I saw was some good ducking and dodging from Cotto though, reminiscing of Floyd's superb defense skills.

Cotto was out muscled and Canelo could have stopped Cotto but didn't trust his gas tank. Canelo's hand speed, size, and power were too much for the little guy handle.

Canelo gives GGG a great fight for 5 or 6 rounds but I think that fight will look a lot like Kovalev v Pascal.

Can't blame Roach. Roach and Cotto have been a perfect match since they hook up. Sometimes you just run into a younger better fighter.

You can't blame Roach for losing to Nelo anymore than you can blame Roach for Pacquiao losing to Maywesther.

I agree with this. People think that trainers are miracle workers. But they aren't. It was smoke and mirrors that Cotto after back to back losses and coming off an embarrassing loss at MSG to Trout was suddenly a new fighter at his advanced age because Roach was his trainer. I think all Roach did was make him a more offensive minded fighter, his previous trainer was trying to reinvent the wheel with Cotto. Roach was just making him get off more and maybe increased his stamina. He had good looking wins but against inferior competition. It was fool's gold. One bum, a cripple who they cherry picked for a belt and a Geale who was never that good and has faded and was weight drained. Canelo was the first healthy top fighter he's faced since Trout.

Roach had one gameplan get on your bike and try and pot shot Canelo and get him frustrated. And maybe he gases out the last 1/3 of the fight. But Canelo's defense was too good and Cotto couldn't out box him. Cotto made Canelo look like frigging Mayweather in there with how he slipped and blocked everything Cotto threw and then countered him back. Only adjustment Roach could make was to tell Cotto to sit on his punches more and trade and if he did that Cotto was gonna get Knocked the F Out. Canelo was just the better fighter and no trainer on earth was gonna change that. Trainers help but sometimes the other guy is just better.

Smoke and mirrors. They've been a perfect match against weak and/or compromised competition. I could have trained Cotto for his last four fights and gotten the same results. The problem I have is with people who want to give the trainer all the credit in the world for their fighter's victories and then completely absolve them of any blame when they lose.

It was perfect because he was able to bring back Cottos offensive mindset. While I agree he would have disposed of the guys he fought anyway but it wouldn't have been as impressive.

You can improve without being renewed and I think that's where a lot of people got confused. Roach improved Cotto he didn't renew him.

Pacquiao won 2 of 4 with one 1 tie that Pac clearly won and would have won if not for a scoring issue So in other words Pac won 3 or 4 against Marquez..Roach is supposed to overcome a PED-cheat in Marquez' corner and all of sudden huge muscles and shocking KO power he's never had? Yes, Marquez looked ordinary against Marquez..did you forget the PED-testing involved in that fight which the Pac fight didn't have? random-blood testing?

Pac dominated Bradley twice and was robbed the first time..lost 5 rounds total in 2 fights by anyone objective..

That's all up for debate, but whatevs. Pacquiao never looked good against Marquez, no matter how you want to slice it. Every fight was close except the 4th. If you say Pacquiao clearly won any of those fights then it shows a pretty clear bias.
