Just how good was a prime Felix Sturm?

Definitely not hall of fame. He was blatantly screwed against Oscar. But he's not the first fighter to get robbed against a big name. It doesn't excuse hiding away in Germany fighting lesser opposition for the rest of his career.

From what we saw he looked very, very good. There is something to love about a jab that is quick, thudding and piston like.

Unfortunately, he never fought at the top level after getting robbed against Oscar. How good he was is hard to judge for that reason.

2 points apart with guys who have scored absolute countless amount of fights doesn't tell us this fight was a robbery.

Oscar was busier throughout the fight and pressing the action this clearly won him the fight, daylight robbery I don't think so.

The fight with Oscar was close, and as some one else said that was a fat Oscar who was slow and ponderous and not exactly at his best.

Other than that he never really beat anyone of note. I could understand him being wary of fighting in the U.S. again but he was a big enough draw in Germany that he could have lured some big names over there. He never did, though.

I think he would've lost clear but competitive decisions to Taylor or Pavlik if they would've fought. His jab was great, but he'd give away rounds with low activity at times. He should've lost to Randy Griffin in their first fight and to Koren Gevor.

I don't think he was a hall of famer but it's possible he could get in the hall just on longevity. Some of the fighters in the hall are nothing special so he might end up in it. He has been a champion off and on for many years. He was pretty good. He had fast hands and a very good jab. He could box and he had decent power but he wasn't a big puncher. He won some close fights he should have lost in his home country of Germany. I think he lost by KO at least once and maybe more than once. He got robbed when he fought De La Hoya. I thought he clearly beat Oscar by a couple of points. Go to boxrec to see his entire career.

In his prime he was a pretty good fighter, but nothing that would cause you to pause.

Many people said it was, but from what I remember it was simply a close fight that went to Oscar. But as what happens when you're the face of boxing, any close win you have is called a gift decision and a robbery to the opponent.
