I got Canelo by 2 rounds, the score cards were just outrageous! IMHO, Miguel did not do enough, you cant really win a fight with a jab and bouncing around.

Yes, great display of boxing by Miguel, his straight right was doing some good damage and I dont know why he stopped using it, and his left hook did not seem to be landing with authority. I felt like he was just working the mitts.

Now, Canelo is on his prime, had a 20lb advantage and we know Cotto is passed his prime, with 20 years of boxing and some hard wars with some serious scar tissue damage...and the younger lion with this "extraordinary" power could not stop or seriously hurt #WarCotto.

Also, the HBO team was a disgrace to boxing journalism, wow!!

Cong**** to Canelo, he did win the fight but honestly, the cards were a joke.

Both are known as somehow gassing in the later rounds... In fact, Cotto even finished the fight with some difficulty..

I had the fight dead even coming in into the 12rd, Canelo dominated the last round and I gave him 7 to 6. Cotto did not wanted to exchange cause Canelo was so much bi9gger and he was hurting him in the body. Canelo never predicted a ko on Cotto, as a matter of fact it was Freddy who screamed to all 4 winds that Cotto was going to ko Canelo. Canelo couldn't ko Cotto because he did not pressured enough. Cotto couldn't ko Canelo just because he couldn't and did not have the power to do so. Cotto only ko's fighters that are at a low level or crippled.

Canelo can ko cotto, but fought in catious manner. He didnt throw many combos, and doesnt know how to corner his oppents. I dont think his ready for GGG. Love canelos combos, but lacks other qualities.

Didn't want to write anything b4 watching the fight again, in a a non-hbo channel. Did get to see it for the 2nd time on an English channel and they had Cotto winning. I usually, try my best to not watch fights on HBO; commentators have agendas and always persuade viewers favoring their guys.

Me?, I saw Canelo winning the fight hands down and I was rooting for Cotto, due to all the ganging up on him with dirty politics in boxing. I scored it 116-112 Canelo, there was a rnd that Cotto was more active but Canelo press the action and connected the better punches, so at best Cotto won 5 rnds, imho.

Cotto has nothing to be ashamed of, he fought a great fight, he was in shape and sharpe, just got bested by a younger, fresher, faster, bigger and stronger guy. There are some sites that say Canelo was 174 lbs vs Cotto's 158 at fight time, I didn't see any official weighing on fight night, so can't say if that's true....but it looked like that, Canelo was much bigger than Cotto.

In the 8th Cotto got hurt w/ a body punch that stopped Cotto on his track and canelo didn't follow up, I think that if he pressed more he could probably stop Cotto after that punch, but when Canelo threw combinations, Cotto countered it pretty good, i think canelo understood that fighting going forward, slipping punches and countering Cotto was his best option, and did really good!

                Im glad you admit defeat.
Cotto did well and is past his prime and he isnt at his ideal weight, BUT nor is Alvarez, he isnt at his best weight yet and he isnt yet in his prime. Canelo did have advantages though i will admit. Cotto should be proud.

he has the power, cottos chin aint great, even little floyd had him doing the funky chicken dance. Problem is below:

His trainers suck and he still has a lot of ways he can improve. Hes terrible when he takes the lead and gets off first, cotto blocked or avoided him almost every single time. He needs to set up his openings better using feints and the jab. I cant believe his trainers never told him to feint in the first half of the fight. He was only landing counters and nothing else. The ONE time I did see him feint with the hook and then landed a solid upper cut and that was more of an unintentional feint because he changed his mind but when it worked that should have set off some alarms.

Yep he aint a finisher, he doesnt know how to get off first, how to close the distance or how to setup his punches. The other thing he always did would be to move in a straight line forward and backward. When cotto jumps in range at him throwing, he backs up in a straight line and now cotto has the distance again that he wants, he needs to use lateral movement so he keeps closer and is at the distance he wants. He could hurt cotto a little bit in the late rounds but then hes so ineffective at closing the distance and setting up his power shots when hes leading that he can never capitalize on it and take cotto out.

Canelo put an absolute master class on Cotto. He broke Cotto mentally and physically. You could see the fear on Cotto's face. I can only imagine the horror that Cotto must've suffered as Canelo was viciously beating him like a ****** nerd beats his peanus.
