Interesting. I'll try to find that broadcast and check it out.

BTW I think the right man got the win. Cotto might have earned a draw at best. Cotto's power punches weren't effective. I can't remember one that troubled Canelo.

GGG vs Canelo is a huge fight for both fighters. If GGG wins, he should move up to 168 and become a PPV star. If Canelo wins, he shocks a lot of people and becomes probably the best P4P fighter in the world. Either way it's amazing to see the outcome. Personally, I wanna see a trilogy. I think the first fight would be a draw and the next two would be KO wins for GGG.

Pretty much. Golovkin only appeals to hardcore fans, for the most part. He doesn't bring a national, ethnic audience.

Belts don't matter -- not to guys like Canelo who already have a huge following.

GGG is truly a monster. Canelo can't beat him -- not based on what I saw last night. Not even kinda. Nobody his size can beat him. Only somebody taller and heavier has much of a chance. Or somebody who really will throw a lot of punches and stay active. Canelo isn't that guy.

If Canelo was my fighter, I would NOT want him stepping into the ring against Golovkin, especially at 160. Would you want Canelo to have his first fight at 160 against Gennady Golovkin? His second or even third fight?

NOPE. Let time go by, let GGG start getting a little older and then see.

"Never" is probably the best time for Canelo to take on GGG. He can get money elsewhere, and if he steers clear of GGG, people can always say Golovkin was overrated and didn't fight anybody.

        Good plan.

I don't mind waiting a bit for a GGG fight. Let Canelo defend his belt against 2 or 3 other viable challengers, and build up the anticipation of a GGG match. He should however, fight GGG before too long, and @ the proper MW limit. Canelo is more than capable of fighting as a full MW; he walks around @170+lbs. Demanding a catch weight for a MW championship fight is a bitch move befitting of the former champ, not the current one.

            Caneo won fair and square

... and he's not afraid and will fight GGG at 160 (I hope). But he loses on nicknames alone. Come on now - 'Redhair' vs. GGG/BIG drama show/The Beast from the East/Assassin of Karaganda. No contest. War GGG!

Canelo won't fight GGG at 160, he knows he'll get KTFO if he tries to trade with him like he did with Cotto.

Canelo doesn't need little g at all at 160lbs

Canelo rules the ring and all fight negotiations without little g having any say. Canelo doesn't need little g to make his millions and burro his way back into mexico a national hero short as that list may be. Little g as a commie isn't needed in the free world and should be ignored. There are enough fights for Canelo at 154lbs to keep carrot top busy for a few years. little g needs a Ward fight at 168lbs or above. Canelo is red hot now and little g is going going gone.

Then I realized that he has no boxing skills every time he faces anyone who knows how to box at least a bit (Mayweather, Lara, Cotto, even Trout) and yet, somehow, throwing and landing way less than the opponent, he miraculously gets the decision every single time, except in the case of Mayweather (but he got a draw in one of the score cards, which was totally ridiculous).

What's the agenda here? He is sort of a "rare" specimen, same as Chavez Jr: a Mexican white Caucasian relatively tall/big boy, who looks different than their average countrymen in most cases (white Caucasians in Mexico are about 10-15% of the total population, at most), and actually have some sort of a Hollywood young actor look in them. But both guys are NOT top tier boxers by any means. They both lack stamina and they are incredibly slow, clumsy and pathetic when it comes to leg movement and defense skills (Canelo is way better and way more disciplined by comparison, but still, far from a top-level fighter, he may be barely B-class, while Chavez Jr. is C-class IMO).

Also both guys rely on the same "strategy": drain yourself about 25-30 pounds lower than your real-life weight, and then on fight night, regain some 15 pounds to become a monster vs. your opponent. Then throw "the best shots" even f you are outlanded by a three to one ratio, and yet get the judges' favor, supposedly because you landed the "most significant" shots, even if you landed like only 20 of them against about 80-100 weaker shots from your much smaller opponent.

Sorry but many of the current "non-white" Mexican fighters in smaller divisions, are WAY BETTER fighters than these two guys. But I guess they will never become relevant, they will never ever get a chance to be in the "big leagues" because of their looks and mostly, their sizes. Sad state of affairs. Just my opinion of course, it may sound idiotic to many and I may agree with that, but think about it. Just compare the so-called "skills" of these guys, with those of the likes of JMM, Barrera, Morales, "Gallito" Estrada. They may be smaller and look "more Mexican" than their bigger countrymen, but IMO they are (or were) hundreds of times more skilled and entertaining than these two big clumsy guys who always fight 1-2 divisions lower than their real weights. And look what happened to Chavez. Jr. the only time he got into the ring vs. someone his own size. He got demolished, knocked down and then knocked out. I'm sure that will happen to Canelo as well, the first time he fights someone his own size, with a bit of punching power.

I love watching most Mexican fighters fight, but these two guys are evidently some marketing cash-cows that are constantly being helped by the judges and that is simply not fair. I hope the next JMM appears soon. Chavez Jr. has already been exposed. I think (and hope) that Canelo will be exposed as well, if and when he mans up and fights someone his own size.

P.S. If anyone watched the Mexican television broadcast of the fight in Spanish, you may have noticed that all commentators agreed that Cotto won, and by a large margin. Yea you're pretty much the only one, or in 1 percentile
