Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto-Saul Alvarez: Post-Fight Report Card

It’s not going to go down with the best of the Mexico-Puerto Rico showdowns but Saturday night we got an interesting fight with two really good rounds (the 8th and the 12th). We also got the end of the farce that was Miguel Cotto: Middleweight.

Will we now get an even more absurd farce from Canelo Alvarez?

One thing was for certain on Saturday night. Whatever he weighed for the fight, Alvarez was clearly the middleweight in the ring. There were no day of weights announced, but he had to be in-ring somewhere in the neighborhood of what Gennady Golovkin was for his last outing.

8-4 for Canelo is how I saw it.

I'm glad to see a confirmation of that with Cliff Rold's scorecard, I was starting to doubt my eyes with all the people saying Cotto actually deserved to win.

155 pounds for guys who rehydrate over 165 pounds through the night is not desirable nor healthy for a fighter. They shall fight at MW 160 pounds not at a catch weight bull****.

The 11-1 scorecard insulted Cotto’s effort but not by that much. 8-4 or 9-3 even were fair...

Yup exactly, this fight was in reality a 9-3 for canelo but if you a diehard cotto fan and you slow-mo, giving cotto all the benefits of the doubt in the world, and missing canelos punches you can reach and say it was 8-4 but thats it.

Lol. Yea if you listened to the HBO cast but didn't watch the the fight you would leave thing cotto landed only one punch the entire fight. I've never heard such blatant hyping up a fighter. It was insane. Cotto essentially swept 1-6. 3 was a toss up... Maybe. Sons score of 8-4 is still a little bizarre
