Canelo just couldn't land a really huge shot flush enough to hurt him in a bagd way and when any really full blooded one was about to land, Cotto was experienced and smart enough to ride the shot. That's all. He tried plenty of times. And by the end he was tired himself.

Couldn't finish. Canelo looked a little tired/had to be a bit cautious of Cotto's power and Cotto was very mobile around the ring.

Lol canelo is not a finisher. Never has been. Which is a big part as to why he never looks dominant.

canelo was also gassed in the late rounds, he did put in some energy in the 12th with what he had left.

The 8th round canelo really put on a beating, when he was still fresh and cotto first started gassing. Then canelo got tired too and cotto was able to run a little bit more again the last few rounds.

Agree with the other guy that canelo isnt a finisher. He is at his best when counter punching, not when taking the lead. He needs to work more on his lead offense, using feints to set it up better. thats why he couldnt finish cotto, too tired along with being less effective while chasing cotto around the ring and trying to get off first which he isnt as accurate as when he counters.

I think myself he had alot of respect for cotto and knowing how much pride Cotto has he didnt choose to stop him.
I think if Canelo went to the body more he could of stopped him but he seemed very cautious and mindful of Cotto power. Probably didn't want to gas himself out

canelo looks like a big strong guy but his power doesn't correlate with his size. josesito lopez was stopped by canelo but he claims maidana is the hardest puncher he's fought, maidana is a blown up jr welterweight, that says a lot.
