Comments Thread For: Crolla Would Love To Unify With Terry Flanagan

Anthony Crolla knocked out Darleys Perez to become WBA world lightweight champion in Manchester.

Crolla was denied a world belt in July when his first clash with Perez was declared a draw - the decision robbing the Manchester fighter an emotional win in the wake of him sustaining serious injuries while trying to detain a burglar earlier in the year.

However, it was a different story at the Manchester Arena on Saturday night, as a bodyshot proved the Colombian's undoing with 30 seconds of the fifth round remaining.

Excellent body shot to knock Perez out and take the title by Crolla. He has come on so much and improved massively in the past few years. Flanagan has always been a class act and his destruction of Magdaleno was emphatic. This would be an excellent fight and would be huge in Manchester. I'd like to see it. Let's hope Hearn and Warren can put politics aside

Crolla/Flannigan would make a perfect British, Commonwealth & EBU title fight. Unfortunatly Jorge Linares holds the cards World wide!

Good win that for Crolla. Perez didn't seem to want to know after that body shot.

Crolla Vs Flanagan would be a good fight. It would sell well in Manchester for sure.

I was hearing that Mitchell would face Crolla if he gets past Barroso?

The Crolla Vs Mitchell winner against the (possible) Matthews Vs Flanagan winner makes for some good domestic world title fight over here next year.

Linares got knocked out by DeMarco. And he also was in a back and forth war with Kevin Mitchell.... Ricky Burns knocked Kevin Mitchell out easily in 4 rounds...

Exactly . While Linares is slick as hell and is a respected champion winning 3 world titles in 3 weight classes his best win at lightweight is Kevin Mitchell who had already been chinned twice badly before he got to him. Katsidis pretty much stopped him with the first hook he landed. Mitchell stood in the pocket with Burns and got blown away early like you point out. All the champions have a point to prove. They are all relatively new and the longest reign currently is Linares with 11 months. The IBF is still vacant. So it's only Linares, Flanagan and Crolla. If you looked at Linares's reign apart from Mitchell he beat a no named guy with 7 losses and 2 draws to win a vacant title and then had a defence against a another no named guy with 6 defeats and 2 draws so he is hardly perfect.

Crolla got knocked out by Derry Matthews....

Mitchell was in far better shape mentally and physically for the Linares fight than he was for his previous world title attempts.

Linares would wipe the floor with Crolla.
