  • Canelo probably should have won but it was closer than the cards and people are saying. I think a lot of people here were swayed by the hbo commentators being clearly bias towards Canelo when a lot of rounds were close.

    • that was a really close fight. I felt canelo won it with the last round.

the whole "he is bigger so his punches matter more" was kind of ******.

with the same frame of mind maidana should have easily beat floyd twice.

what ever happened to hit and dont get hit.

      • People are judging with their hearts and not their minds. It was a pretty clear Canelo win. I was rooting for Cotto because I wanted him to cap his career with another amazing win, but he didn't win that fight.

          • fight was much closer tahn those rigged scorecards (typical canelo rigged cards). i had it 7-5 canelo or a draw. very close fight.

canelo is all hype and protected.

            • Nah, Canelo won that.

That 11-1 scorecard is a joke though. However if you really wanted to try and agree that 11-1 is a fair score, i suppose you could say that Cotto didn't win any round clearly and the ones he did were still close. If you were really in favour of Canelo, you could somehow find a way to give him 11 rounds if you tried hard enough.

But i still think that card is a joke and far too wide, but by the end of the fight it was pretty clear Canelo had done enough to win.

thats a fackin joke. i had it with canelo only two points up. miguel took loads of avoidable shots...those uppercuts and over hand rights when his hands were down labouring around...i was pleasantly surprised with miguels punch resistance in this bout. miguel did all of the work with canelo both countering and fighting back with excellent effect. dont they say you gotta go take the belt from the champ?! i didnt see that, i saw cotto initiating all the action with canelo joining in as i said with very good results.
its what it is, shame for miguel cotto but he loses no steam in my view and alvarez wanting another crack at floyd mayweather would only end the same way.a rematch would be good with cotto although i would like to see canelo face galovkin or lemineaux next....!?!?!

I would gladly take all of your points if Floyd is dumb enough to get into the ring with this Canelo. The only reason Floyd won the first time is because he drained the kid. Other than Oscar against Manny, I never seen a drainage that bad. Canelo is too big, strong, and fast for Floyd, whose punch resistance has gone down. He gets KO'ed. Canelo has been steadily improving since and the loss taught him a valuable lesson.

The judges don't hear the hbo commentators and they had the fight wide so did a ton of media outlets that were scoring the fight who also don't hear the broadcast when sitting ringside. Too many people thought it was a easy win to blame that on HBO commentators.

Floyd out landed maidana and landed like damn near 60 percent of his punches. Cotto despite running and throwing way more punches actually landed fewer punches then canleo. Landed only 20% of his punches. Lower connect percent the canelo. This fight was nothing like the maidana fight. Your eyes and the punch stats all backup canelo winning easily. Cotto couldn't land on canelo and when he did they had zero effect. Canelo countered all day with more damage, landed more and was more efficient and even cut up cottos face

                    • Canelo had lazy rounds were he only fought in spurts which allowed Cotto to take control.

I don't mind having Canelo as the winner but that wide margin is just way off. It was closer than that. I mean, one judge scoring it 11-1? FFS man, stop it.

Mayweather gave Cotto a more worse beating. Nearly stopping Cotto in the 12th too....
