Fact: Middleweight is Golovkin's first weight class as a pro.

Fact: Golovkin refused to go up to the full limit of his second weight class and ducked Andre Ward.

Fact: Middleweight is Alvarez's fourth weight class as a pro.

Fact: Alvarez has never weighed more than 155 lbs. which is 5 lbs. less than the full limit of his fourth weight class.

Fact: Golovkin has stated on record that he would be willing to go as low as 154 lbs. for a big PPV fight. If he ducks Alvarez over weight, he will solidify his standing as the biggest coward boxing has produced in at least 20 years.
    164 = in the middle of 160 and 168...

155 = one pound over 154 the weight class below 160...

    See the difference

Dudes like you are pathetic. For years, you cry and moan about "even playing fields", but now, you boast about "he calls the shots".
GTFOH. Do you want an even sport or not?

Cong**** to Canelo for winning but the 155 lbs catch weight is ridiculous and I hope Canelo doesn't get a rematch from Floyd also. Oscar almost succeeded robbing Floyd before and the way they scored the fight last night..they will certainly succeed next time. Canelo did win but the score was B S!

it will look bad for canelo's legacy if he bins the middleweight title for fear of defending it to a middleweight and continues fighting in his made up super jnr middleweight division cause he can't make 154

Floyd would school Canelo even worse at 155... Canelo is bigger at the weight but he looked pretty slow... Cotto's reflexes were slower in the fight and Cotto has never been the best defensive fighter...

Floyd will hit and not get hit all night against the pudgy ginger... no need for that rematch...

As critical as I've been of Floyd...this fight demonstrates how impressive the Canelo win was... he basically won 11-1 against a young-undefeated Canelo with a huge weight advantage..so Floyd gets full props for that fight and it was a risk..

fact: All this is irrelevant since it is two middleweight fighters fighting for unification of most mw belts!!!!

He cant be the first C side to make the demands

Floyd did it, canelo did it, cotto did it etc

                  Canelo doesn't look bigger?

This is why Canelo will never get placed at the top with the Mexican legends. Imagine some of them guys holding a MW belt and not defending it at the MW limit.

They wouldn't. He's not a "throwback" like people say, he's just as big a diva as anybody else in the sport.

He looked great tonight. He has improved so much since that boxing lesson put on him a few years ago. No I don't think the result would change between him and Money May if they fought now either.

He is a Middleweight. Do I think he fights GGG the first half of 2016? No. But I think the second half of 2016 he will. A deal will be made.

He's cut from a different cloth. A true throwback in the sport.

I hope people respect him more after this performance, and acknowledge his in ring growth/improvement. CANELO DESERVES CREDIT!!!!

I have to agree with you. I am not the one to hate. Canelo does seem willing to fight anybody. Mayweather, Lara, Trout, Cotto that is a tough schedule for anybody. Def at 154. I honestly think Canelo is a great fighter. I wasn't sold on him for years.

But truth is truth he is a great fighter.
