No, you see let me correct you.

He did not "clearly" win that fight. It was another could've gone either way fight, where us moderates will call it as such, while the extreme fans of either one will look for confirmation bias to say that their guy clearly won.

But at the end of the day, for the good of boxing, the right guy won. It looks like young Canelo will fight GGG, whereas Cotto wasn't gonna do much else with his victory, besides calling out a retired Floyd.

I'm not a fan of either fighter. Cotto won and Canelo lost. In fact, I was a more than a bit upset about Cotto not paying the sanctioning fee as well as the step aside money (I am a big GGG fan). Still, I believe that whether Canelo will fight GGG (but that Cotto most certainly won't) should have nothing to do with this fight. Cotto made Canelo look foolish - to the point that Canelo threw low blow after low blow, yet despite this, Cotto outworked and outboxed Canelo. And for the good of boxing, I say that fights should be determined on what happens in the ring, and not because the redheaded fighter is ten years younger and his opponent refused to pay the WBC its sanctioning fee or pay GGG his step aside money. I do intend to do this: I will re-watch this fight until I am convinced that nothing escapes my attention, and if I change my mind about the decision I will say so on this forum. It may be some months on down the road, but I will post it if I change my mind.
