I can't watch the video because I'm on a budget but if Irish Andre Ward said that GGG is a chicken then he is wrong.

I've never understood that insult. I've seen thousands of chicken fights. Chickens are brave warriors who are willing to die while in combat. They always choose to go out on their shields.

Ward is one of my favs so I aint hating or nuffin.

What has always puzzled me about boxing fans is their flat out refusal to admit there is a lot of racism in the sport. This is a sport where we root for fighters based on race, nationality, ethnicity, ect... The fight today is being promoted as Mexico vs Puerto Rico. But for some reason boxing fans thinks it stops outside the ring....

Kovalev and Stevenson is the perfect example of racism and double standards. Kovalev has has numerous instances of racism, including but not limited to calling an opponent a "thoroughbred *******". Then he compared Stevenson to a chimp and people made excuses from "That's the way he was raised" to "He's not from here he didn't know that was offensive". I"m not from Russia and have never lived there but I have enough sense not to go around calling them drunk Ruskies. Comparing black people to monkey's is a no-no worldwide, not just in America. And even it it was only in America, he's been living here long enough to know it's wrong.

At 21 y/o Stevenson committed a horrible crime in which he was convicted, sentenced, and did his time. He's admitted what he did was wrong. He got out of prison and dedicated himself to boxing and hasn't been in trouble in 17 years. I'll give a 21 year old who has been in gangs since he was a teen more leeway than a 32 year old who is still being racist. Yet we still see people calling Stevenson a pimp, criminal and whatever else. He should be looked at as the American/Canadian dream. A man who made bad decisions as a teen and turned his life around. If people can't see the racism in the way the two are treated they're in denial.

FFS u get racist ejits in life, u get white & black racists, Asian racists. It's the parenting.
Boxing might attract some but mostly fans support the style or personality of the boxer.
I'm supporting Cotto tonight, not because I hate Mexicans. I've eaten Mexican food never eaten Puerto Rican food, if I could get it is try it.

If fans like action they support that style, if they like patient technical styles they'll support that guy, most fans like both, colour doesn't come into. I watched the whole 40 minute video last night, it's mostly Ward feeling sorry for himself in a delusional way.

He cries that HBO is ****ting on him and giving GGG preferential treatment. But look back to Ward's tv ratings during the S6 - they were poor. 600k people tuned in to watch him fight Froch and Abraham. Then afterwards HBO gives him a monster contract with a huge guarantee. They set him up with a commentating job to increase his popularity. They poured in more money to get Edwin Rodriguez to fight Ward so that he'd have a credible opponent. The man is delusional, he's the one who killed his momentum.


Ward standing firm at the beginning when he claims he made the offer to GGG prior to the Lemieux announcement, says he'll show the email, then doesn't.

Somebody asks if he'd drop back down to 168lbs to fight Golovkin - he says no way. Funny as ****, because he was fine with Chad Dawson doing exactly that.

The Once and Future King.....

I watched the videos and I have to say that Ward is an excellent spokesman for not only boxing, but he speaks with passion and eloquence about how he's perceived as well. He has a lot of good points. If some fans really drilled down into their dislike for some fighters, they may find that their passions are based on something more than a "boring style" or even boxing at all.

One doesn't have to agree with Ward on all of his points, but when he open his mouth he exhibits nothing but class IMHO.....
