    Not a good idea IMO.

Without a big size advantage, I don't think he'd be very effective. He wont have that at 154.

is in spanish, but basically he says he can't make 147 lbs no more, i don't think is wise for him to be back at 154 lbs.

this is him today in las vegas

Better off staying retired. He might come back and get worked!

Lara vs Maidana in 154 pounds.

            Easy fight for Lara...

This guy is garbage, and more without the height advantage. His weight vs Floyd was 166 pounds!

              Maidana stops everyone at 154.

Somewhere, both Run Time Thurman and Gift Garcia just let out sighs of relief.

Maidana is a big name. He has earned his stripes.

If his management is as smart as I think they are, they will bring a 140- or 147-pounder up to 154 for Marcos to dance with. He shouldn't fight a full-fledged junior middleweight in his return, because I think he would be more susceptible to getting dragged in a life-or-death tuneup-turned-war.

Also, I think Maidana's underrated defense will allow him to hang with certain 154-pounders. Let's see.

At 154 he will be 14 pounds over his best weight instead of 7 pounds over weight judging from his looks. He already looked somewhat soft and fleshy at welterweight.

He doesn't look that bad at all in this pic, I think if he has a good 10 week training camp he can make 150 lbs, I would first like to see him against some solid contender from 147 at 150 to see how he looks, then I wouldn't mind him facing the top guys from 147 at 150 lbs catchweight, also if Cotto wins tonightI'd like to see Maidana fight him at 154 late next year.

Maidana should stay away from Lara, Canelo, Andrade and the Charlos, I don't mind him having his own weight class like Canelo and fighting 147 pounders (non title fights), he has absolutely no business fighting top guys at 154
