  • Comments Thread For: Kevin Mitchell Faces Ismael Barroso on Joshua-Whyte

Kevin Mitchell will face Ismael Barroso for the WBA Interim Lightweight title at The O2 in London on December 12, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The clash takes Mitchell back to the scene of his epic WBC World title clash with Jorge Linares in May, and the popular Londoner will need to be at his very best at the sold-out venue against the visitor.

Unbeaten Barroso holds an enviable record of 18 wins with 17 of them coming inside the distance, and the reward for both men on the night is huge – as the victor must face the winner of Saturday’s rematch between WBA king Darleys Perez and Anthony Crolla within 90 days for the World title.

Mitchell all day for me, other guy has great record of 18-0-2 but has yet to fight anyone in top 100. Mitchell needs to avoid power and box and can stop later on.

Does Mitchell have a fan base, how does he stay relevant aside from Hearn keeping him in the mix of course.

He fought Katsidis at Upton Park, think he sold about 15-20 thousand tickets. He's a big West Ham fan and has a decent fanbase because of that.

His fan base is that English referee and judges. He got beat from pillar to post and the ref let him go on in hopes of a miracle and the judges were working on a home town robbery. They actually had him up on the cards when Linares mercifully beat him down. His fans wouldn't settle for any less.

Looks like Derry Matthews vacated his interim title then. His fight with Flanagan must be a go'er.

I'm quite interested in seeing Barroso, as want to see if his punching power is legit.

So Mitchell will become mandatory to Flanagan if he wins this, I guess?

Will be interesting to see if Frank Warren follows through with his promise of doing a purse bid against Matchroom for that fight.

If this guy can punch and land flush Mitchell's getting stopped again.
