Floyd's Power at 147 & does he belong there?

What do you guys think who watched the fight? Ive heard many fans and media say that he doesnt have the pop at 147 but I dont think its fair to say that because he really just doesnt have the weight at 147. Anytime you come into the ring at 146 then you shouldnt be there and you wont have enough power if you are already a guy who started at 130. I think that if he could put on more weight or got more comfertable and came in at 155 or something then he would have enough pop. I think its just all in his weight.

Also as a Floyd fan, I would hate to see him lose strictly on weight. Even the Margarito supporters I think would admit that Floyd is the better #4# fighter. However coming into the ring at 146 when Margarito might be 166 is so dangerous but you have to give Floyd credit for taking it ol school like Ray Robinson. Also what if he moves up and fights guys like Oscar, Shane, or Vargas? He said he only walks around at 149 so I think it will be really hard for him to put on that weight. Everyone says he would kill Oscar and I think #4# he would but at 154 Oscar would be huge and come in at atleast 166 and what would littile Floyd be? 146?

I like Hatton & Cotto but 140 is Floyd's prime weight right now and there is no way those guys have a chance of beating him at that weight. They would even probally do better against him at 147 then at 140. At 140 he has the power & speed. At 147 he is still strong & fast but its still a significant drop off, which makes what he is doing all the more impressive. Even at 140 he was small.

I watched a Cotto fight one day at 140 and I hadnt seen Floyd in so long that I wanted to compare how they would matchup and because it had been so long, I was surprised to see how much smaller Floyd seemed compared to guys like Cotto, Tszyu, Hatton, and N'Dou. So you know that if he's that same weight at 147 then he will look like a munchkin compared to Margarito but I still says he wipes the floor with him because of his talent.

I agree with you, he comes in great shape to fights but he does come in light where every other fighter is 8-10lbs over there initial weight-in.

I said the same thing before about his fighting some of the top guys at 147lbs. I think he can still beat them but think that he gives guys like Hatton and Cotto huge advantages fighting them at 147 instead of 140 where he is more natural and would have more power and where they would have a harder time in making weight.

I never thought of PBF as much of a power puncher. He is just fast and accurate. If you hit someone the right way they will feel it especially if they don't see it coming. If he uses the same speed and accuracy he should have no problem at 147.

You can't tell yet. He's only had 2 fights at 147, a TKO from a much weaker Mitchell, and a UD decision over Judah, where he difinitely wasn't going for the knock out. PBF's focus in that fight was to outbox Judah, after Zab surprised him early.

in order to beat the top guys at 147, he better have a better showing than he did against zab. I mean, mabye it was just me but he did not look too sharp.

I agree with you on this. Theres always a danger moving up a couple of divisions. Mosely did this and he took a while to settle into the higher divisions. I hope Floyd does'nt suffer the same fate (don't think he will). But a lot of people were touting him as the next Ray Robinson. Now theres more talent around LW W divisions than there was when Mosely moved up. I don't really believe its about strength and power for Floyd, he's gonna rely on his sheer all round ability

There isn't going to be any other fighters that are as fast as Judah was. Mayweather had to adapt to the quickness and speed of Judah. He is usually the faster fighter but Judah was faster.

i think the move up is for $$ against judah and when cotto or hatton move up Mayweather will already established himself and have more bargaining power at the table for more $$$
